Sweeping Suggestions
Been playing this game pretty heavily the past few days. It's fun, but I do have a few ideas.
First, the brumos always getting the first strike makes things a little difficult at times... actually it can make a battle down-right impossible when the first strike drops you and you don't even have a chance to run or strike back. Suggestion: Give it a chance (even if it is 50/50) for brumos to get first strike or player to get first strike.
Second, navigation can be a little click intensive. Say you're wanting to get to the inn at the end of a battle. First you have to go to headquarters, then to an inn. Or say you want to fight another battle right after because you made it out with light wounds. You have to go to headquarters, then click the battle arena. Suggestion: Give more than one link after battle. Instead of just Go to Headquarters also give the options to Go to Inn, Go to Camp, Go to Inventory, Fight Again.
Third, different armors and weapons are all kind of the same from what I've seen except for a few that have instant kill or are cursed. Suggestion: More equipment/item effects. Instant kill and curse can be cool. But I'd like to see something more. Perhaps a chance to poison the enemy or silence them. Hold/stun/entangle for a round could be cool too. Or bonus HP or MP for having a special shield. Something that would make those rare finds even more cheerful. Possible give variety in their attack or defence + to balance the effects.
Fouth, the battles are essentially the same damage trading. Suggestion: Dodge, counter, guard and the like. Special chances to add some spice to the battles. Perhaps something to think about as a bonus effect as per suggestion 3
Fifth, character sprites are fairly generic as per class. Granted that's pretty much how it is in Final Fantasy, but it would be kind of cool to be able to have a constant sprite to choose from. Suggestion: "Custom" sprites. More that if you master a class you get the sprite added to your inventory and have some you can buy from the shop like with the music. Also some rare sprite drops would be cool. Possibly have male and female versions of the sprites.
Just some things I thought would add more spice to an already excellent game.
Edit: Just thought of another thing.. elements. Weapon elements decide damage type. Armor elements determine resistance to that element type. On defence one type could reduce like element by half, two makes immune to that damage type and three absorbs that type healing 25% of damage roll. Like wise if say you are wearing ice armor and get hit with fire you'd get added damage. One of that type causes the damage to be 150%, two moves it to 200% and three ice armors vs. fire attack would cause 300% damage. If you are wearing say two ice and one fire vs, fire attack then it would act as wearing one ice vs. the damage.
I know some may be complex. Just throwing out ideas that may spice up things a little.

Probably belongs to the suggestions section.
The RPG is actually to be viewed as a kind of side-project; the forums are pretty much the main thing.
Brumos- you get a chance to block the attack using your shield...
For quicker links to the battle arena etc, it would be good.... But there would be no point in having the HQ, since you could access anything from anywhere. I think having all those links will slow the game down somewhat. One of the reasons is so that people don't die by accident.
Weapons etc causing status effects- I belive there are items out there, like poison needle, which can poison opponents. But again adding it to weapons will basically mean creating a new slot for each item, which will use up a lot of space.
And there are already rare items which increase your max attack, def, MP & HP, although these gains disappear when you change class.
Movements: again, the difficulty and space needed to implement extra moves onto it.
Elements would be good, especially since we do have elemental Brumos.
They are good suggestions, but there are reasons why they won't be implemented in the near future.
1) Funender does have a big list
2) Speed issues- having more links, item effects etc will be detrimental to the speed of the game, especially since its a game supposed to run on most computers (including older ones).
3) Value for time put in- to put it bluntly, there are probably about 10 people max playing the game at any one time, possibly less. Funender's time is limited, and he has to prioritise what he does. If he had a team of programmers that would be fine, but for him this site is more of a hobby than work.
Anyway, hope you don't get put off.
