Surfing!
Well. im going on spring break from the... 14th to the 21st down in florida and i really really wanna try surfing. so my question is, does anyone surf, how awesome is it regardless of skill (much like golf) and do you have any first timer tips?
other than that, feel free to use this thread to discuss the excelence of surfing.
cant wait to try it.

meh. I body board. it's alright to me, but maybe that's because I don't like the beach. there's also skim boarding. It's more fun to watch than do in all honesty.

will i tried it on a boat my first and only time they had a wave generator on board it was fun but i sucked at it and brook my toe when i fall off the board and the wave smashed it in to my foot. i was much better at boogie boarding.

i used to have a body board, but the waves here aren't realy that great...
all we get is the cracked waves, when the white comes off...
eventually i learned to body board without the board... that was kinda fun, lol
never tried surfing though, but see a lotta people do it down here so i gues it's pretty cool, lol

yeah i hear you really gotta be careful.
though i am gonna do it anyway. lol. i mean... i like the ocean. ive always wanted to learn how to sail so i guess surfing is just a cheap way to love the ocean lol.
also, ill end up renting a board for the first time so theres no real money issue if i end up hating it or getting messed up lol.

Ok, first timer tip!
Prepare to suck big time unless you have some magic powers. Expect to be thrown off your board.  It may be fun the first few times but you'll get annoyed if you get thrown off a lot.
I haven't surfed in a while though. And if you really get into surfing, visit hot spots like Hawaii. The waves there are top notch.
Oh and are you getting an instructor or will a friend teach you? Either way, always listen to em.

neither to the instructor/friend.
though if i enjoy it at all (regardless of falling) i would totally consider an instructor.
