Suggestions?
With the new Slim out and the price drop I'm definitely gonna go buy a Ps3 later this week.
But I don't really know much about it or the games it has.
That being said, i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any good RPGs for the PS3.
Or any to avoid for that matter...
I know I've heard of one called Valkyria Chronicles that was supposed to be good. But I'd like a second opinion XD

was totally going to recommend valkyria chronicles.
but, might i just point out that there is a demo you can download for free on the PSN store, so maybe buy the system, bring it home, set it up and go through a bunch of demos and then buy some games.
and i dont know if you are into any other types of games, but you should look into uncharted for sure.

okay well... uncharted does have a lot of shooting... so i guess thats out. but its not an fps by any means. more like a platforming indiana jones game with great voice acting and yeah, you happen to have to shoot stuff.
moving on, if you are a racing fan i would highly recommend wipeout hd which is on the psn network for $20 and its the best racing experience for that price hands down. they also put out a add-on recently and its great. please note though that it can get too difficult for some people and you really have to get a hang of the controls, but after that its really enjoyable.
still on racing i heat motor storm pacific rift is really good. and im sure theres a demo up for that too.
if your a sports fan, NHL 09 is super awesome. NHL 10 is coming out really soon but i still like 09 better but thats me.
also, skate and skate two are great. really great. skate you should be able to get for like $30, and the second one is still higher in price.
little big planet is pretty great. granted i havent played it lately, but its got ridiculous potential considering all the player created content. pretty much infinite gaming.
also there are all the multi-console games that you could get like bioshock and gta4 and so on... but im sure you know enough about them already.
oh and maybe rent mirrors edge? its a pretty great ride but not worth the $60 (though you can prolly get it new for like $40 now... but yeah, id rent it as its pretty short)
as for more downloadable games, theres fat princess which is capture the flag with the flag being replaced by a princess that really loves to eat cake (and thus get fat). check it out.
thats really all i can think of off the top of my head. thorlord could prolly suggest some more that ive forgotten.

So from the sound of it, I doubt there are that many good RPG's for the PS3 lol
I know White Knight Chronicles is coming out later but apart from that no idea

Yeah, that's what disapointed me too. The best you can do for RPG's is Fallout 3. It's similar to Elder Scrolls, however it's set in the world which is pretty much destroyed. However, Elder Scrolsl had swords and shields, this is more up-to-date. With guns, baseball bats, lasers, ect. Besides that, just wait for Final Fantasy XIII? That's what I'm doing. =(
The game I would suggest, not being a FPS, would have to be Prototype. I loved that game. After you beat it, you can find collectables, but that's about as far as replay-ability goes. But it's still fun to pick it up once in a while and just cause a little action. =P

Probably Demons Soul's as a good RPG as well as Valkyria. Havent played Demons Soul's though and it doesen't look like it will be brought to the UK.

I read about Demon's souls a few days ago... I don't think I'd be able to play it without smashing the control towards the floor at least five times...
I have to admit though, I'm extremely anxious to try it out... though I don't think there are any demos on psn yet...
and just in case anybody comes to this thread for suggestions, I've downloaded quite a few PSN titles and some I highly recommend are Flower and Wipeout HD... both are absolutely gorgeous games, especially in a 1080i/p tv and I've spent countless hours on Wipeout.

well dont quote me on this, but... blu rays might be region free, and since they play on the ps3 which is also region free... maybe...?

Fallout 3 was great, although you should get the players guide because the actual story line is about 6 hours long and the extra crap you can do is over 100 hours. It's also on 360 though.
Fat Princess looks awesome but I haven't played it
Little Big Planet is an abomination in video gaming and could've been done 15 years ago and I'm insulted at it's popularity... I'm sorry, I had to say it, the game is garbage, beyond garbage... the game is worse than FF: DoC.
Mirror's Edge was wicked awesome, one of the fastest games I've ever played, haven't beaten it yet though because I put it on too high a difficulty to start.
And I have heard from several other sources that NHL 09 is better than NHL 10

yeah I have nhl 09 and its great. and from playing the nhl 10 demo... meh. not much has changed besides better fighting mechanics (lame)
also, its been recently anounced that the ps3 is gonna get netflix support. no official date besides "soon" but yeah. good stuff.
