Some questions abt FFX (gameplay)

Considering I'm playing it for the 1st time, I'm abit lost when after reading some faqs out there. Can you guys help me wif some simple questions?

How to beat the Dark Valefor at Besaid?
What and how to get the items to customize weapons to have [Triple Overdrive or Double Overdrive], [Auto Phoenix], [Auto Haste], [One MP cost], and [Break damage limit]?
Any tips on defeating the sea monster (Gage..ah whatever) at Baaj Temple?
Where can I find good players for the blitzball team of Besaid and how to recruit them?
Gaining tonnes of APs quickly?
My Tidus' HP looks kinda low, does sphere grid levelling up is the only way to increase his HP? (maybe a HP+20% ability will do?)
thinking what else...

1. I recommend that you have an Accuracy of at least 80, if not repeatedly cast Aim on yourself. Cast Hastega immediately at the beginning of the battle. Set your Overdrive Mode to Stoic (this is your best choice) Start attacking after that, use Tidus' Blitz Ace Overdrive and Wakka's Attack Reels. He'll die soon enough.
Dark Valefor uses Energy Ray first then immediately follows with Energy Blast once his overdrive gauge is full. Save yourself with Auto-Life.

2.there are certain thing you have to do to get the recommended items...(I'll get back to you on that question)

3.Use stone proof on yourself because you will automatically die if/when it uses stone breath.attack on you....building up magic power is a good idea, as for you can use Thunder/Thundera/Thundaga..piercing weapons are a good thing to use alswell

4.Go up to random people and pres the square button to see if they are recruitable ...it'll show their stats and such if they are....

5.APs, just find a good place to level up at (Omega Ruins is a good place when you get there, but you can't get there until right before the final battle with sin)

6. There are certain shpere's (HP) that you can use in an empty nod-thingy and place it there....HP+20% can do aswell...

7. oh..there is no 7 :/

Hope that made sense...and/or helped...You have to search for Omega Ruins (if you haven't found it yet....I'll find the coordinates for it asap) :]

Ideally have your stats quite high. Cast aim 5 times. Mix trio of 9999, attack reels and blitz ace. Summon to block the attacks.

Triple Overdrive- 30 Winning Formula (bribe Sand Worm 900k for 15)
Double Overdrive- 30 Underdog's Secret (Get 99 from Rin by getting all Al Bh66ed Primers)
Auto-Phoenix- 20 Mega Phoenix (Get 99 by capturing everything in the Calm Lands and 4 of each small bird in the game- Condor, Alcyone [sp] and Simurgh)
Auto-Haste- 80 Chocobo Wing (get 99 for capturing everything in the Calm Lands and Thunder Plains, bribe Machea about 360k for 60)
One MP Cost- 30? Three Stars (get 60 each for capturing 2 areas or winning the Remiem Temple race getting 5 chests no poles)
Break Damage Limit- 60 Dark Matter (get 99 for capturing 5 of everything possible in the game- better to get the celestial weapons and power them up)

Evade and Counter makes him too easy.

squallpayne wrote:

I'm not an expert on this, but to name a few.
Ropp- Mi'ihen Highroad agency- right hand shop
Wedge- One of the guards above the reception desk in Luca (the left one I think)
Nimrook- In the airship (he starts by playing for the Al Bhed Psyches)

Make weapons of triple AP, triple Overdrive and Overdrive -> AP. Fight against Cactuar King or Don Tonberry. Have your characters on comrade (your main killer on Stoic against DT). Have your main killer attack, get killed, revive, attack again etc. etc.

It's the only way to permanently increase his HP (well, as long as you don't use Clear Spheres). Abilities like HP+20% increase his HP for as long as he has it equipped.

Thnx for the very informative infos manudude & elphy, anyway I got too carried away with finishing the game to find out about the interesting storyline. Guess 1st time players can be forgiven for not getting everything lol (reminds me of how awfully I did on my 1st time FF8 game).

I find getting the sigils kinda annoying, especially dodging 200 lightning bolts in a row (imagine getting hit by the lightning at the 199th try), and beyond 0 secs of chocobo catcher race game. Thats why I decided to get the Dark Matter (Break Damage Limit) some other way.

Great game btw, very creative battle system. Very Happy

On the lightning dodging, I lost count the first time quite late on, thought i was over 200, did another 10 to "make sure" and found i was only on 197 and the counter had reset. Chocobo racing has always been very easy for me in FFX.

to get the jupiter sigil, you must have all 4 overdrives before it can appear as a league prize

Go for it, its not exactly expensive. Great game too, graphics rival the later PS2 games.
