So, this is gonna be fun...
Well, my worse fear is about to be recognized. (kinda)
[there IS a reason for this post besides me ranting if you wanna jump to the bottom. the top is mostly explanation of why i need help].
For those of you who don't know, I'm in a theatre class this semester. One of the major projects we had to do is right a 10 page playlette (a mini play). I wrote mine and it had a cool concept. I got a 94% on it (my teacher took off 6 points because i forgot to capitalize a "t"). XD
anyways, there's 2 projects that involve this playlette. The first part is writing it (simple enough). The second part is the biggest project of the semester (and it's considered our final). A few of the plays people in the class write will be acted out by the other classmates. We're in charge of stage directions, props, costumes, lighting, the whole sha-bang. And at the end, we can invite our friends and family to come see our plays for free. cool, right?
well, there's a iiiiiitty-bitty hitch in that plan. See, if you wrote one of the plays that was chosen, you HAVE to be in your play. and someone else HAS to direct it.
I was joking, while i was writing the play, with my friends by saying, "The worst fear of all actors is having to act in a crappy play. the worst fear of all playwrights is making a crappy play. As both an actress and a writer, my worst fear is having to act in my own crappy play".
And guess who's play was chosen. -_-
I was hoping because i had a lot of controversial issues in it, my teacher would just say no and give me a good grade anyhow. Apparently, it didn't work like that.
Now, the play itself is actually pretty good (not to toot my own horn). like... it's better than most of the plays the theatre club kids at my college come up with (which isn't hard to do...). But I really don't want to be in my own play. And I REALLY don't want anyone to see my own play. Because now not only do i have to worry about people judging my acting, but i have to worry about them judging my writing capabilities. People's GRADES depend on both my acting, and my writing. and...... that's just really depressing. -_-
We're getting a lot of days off coming up pretty soon (because of thanksgiving and some conference in New Orleans my teacher's going to). First practice day is the first. Honestly, i want to know who's going to be my cast as soon as possible. I know how the kids in my class act and i REALLY don't want the quiet chick since she apologizes when she messes up a line and you can NEVER hear her (and both females do a bit of yelling). Ugh, i dunno.....
but yeah, there WAS a reason for this besides me just saying "I hate this i hate this i hate this".
I need people to read through my play and tell me if there's anything that would be better changed. I made the correction to the letter "t" my teacher caught me on already, but there's some awkwardness and i wanna know what other people think before i let people's grades depend on it. Any volunteers?
