Sixaxis controller wins Emmy
http://au.gamespot.com/news/6163855.html?tag=latestnews;title;3
After being the subject of some slings and arrows from the media, the PlayStation 3 has racked up one of the media's highest honors. Tonight at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will give Sony a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award for the PS3's Sixaxis controller. Like the Wii remote, the Sixaxis can sense motion, allowing players to control onscreen action by moving the controller.
Sony was understandably pleased by the announcement. "The critical acclaim for PS3 is a testament of the platform's strength and the industry's desire for a true next-generation entertainment system," said recently installed Sony Computer Entertainment president CEO Jack Tretton. Tretton assumed his new post in mid-December, shortly before Time magazine labeled the PS3 launch "a bust." Sony has since announced the console shipped 1 million units in North America in 2006, nearly double the number of Xbox 360s sold in 2005. Both consoles went on sale in mid-November of their respective launch years.
Besides the Emmy, CES will see the PlayStation 3 receive several other honors, including the 2007 CES Best of Innovations Award, PC World's 20 Most Innovative Products Award, Sound & Vision's Editor's Choice Award, and Digital Entertainment Group's Emiel N. Petrone Digital Innovation Award.

my question is this:
how much did sony have to pay for that emmy?
qute honestly that award should have gone toward the Wiimote if anything.

The motion controls are extremely laggy, and as I have brought this up before, a lack of rumble makes it very crappy.
I wonder who the director of sony had to blow to even get into the nominations.

when i used it, it felt fine, i played the racing game with pure motion sensing.. while taking sharp corners was hard as hell, i DID find that it was easier to drive when the corners were not as sharp as i had more controll over the vehicle.
so its not that laggy, maybe for some games, but in the demo i played it was fine.

thats why there is a strap that you wear, so that if your hand gets sweaty and you lose your grip, it doent fly away and hit anything.
if your not wearing the strap.. well thats just stupidity on your part, they put it there because they KNEW people would at some-time or another lose their grip and fling the thing. its common sense, its why PDA's dont have rumbe feature, because you would lose your grip and drop the damn thing.
when Handheld gaming gets rumble and motion sensing, they will have strap attachments so it wont hit the ground, it will just hang in the air suspended to your wrist.

That's what I thought. I don't care about the DP either, due to the fact that you were clarifying something.

I didn't even *know* they gave Emmys for game controllers. When did that start?
And wow, bad PR move by Sony. Did they even start this rumor mill?

haha, that is pretty lame of sony to do that. (by the way, i heard though that even with the strap there is not enough to stop it fro flying off - i dont know this myself but its just something ive heard, so its probably not true at all.)
by the way, this abbreviation of double post must surely cease...being as DP is already used to abbreviate something entirely different.

Nintendo put a recall on the straps. When I registered that I had some old ones, They sent me new ones that are a lot thicker and won't break.
