Selective Forums
Would it possible to set it up so users can select which forums they want visible? Maybe make that an option? I'm not suggestion ALL of them should be able to be hidden.... but there are some that I never look at... I think that it would be nice if we could select which forums we want visible... like the UG that we aren't a part of we could hide... if we never go in the sports bar... hide it... etc....
what do think?
The nice thing ... if people want to see everything they can... and you can always go back & change your preferences...

You're assuming that people's opinion of things never change. What if people here begin to like sports (ok, hahaha I get it) and want to look at the topic, or maybe something big was brought up?

This would be something each user could customize for themselves..... with the exception of certain Forums like the announcements and others the Admins deem too important to be hidden... but each user would have the option of being able to "hide" forums or sub-forums so that they don't show.... I'm not a sports guy... I never go into the sports bar... hence I'd hide it.... I'd hide UG I don't belong to... I don't need to see them, don't care if they have new posts etc... I can change my mind in the future and "un-hide" them.... if I choose to do so...
That's what I was suggesting that people be given the option/freedom/whatever...
could even make a level/post requirement....
Say you have to have 1000 or 1500 or something posts to access the feature or something....

Hey...
That ain't right....
I don't have 200 karma... simply because I don't care about Karma.... I predate Karma......
I'm not big on putting large Karma requirements on things like that.... I'd prefer a decent post count..... 1000 or so.....

My problem with that is, I could say the same about post count.
A lot of us predate karma, but yet still, look at my post count. It's not because I'm inactive, it's because I don't say much. And I refuse to make posts that don't contain at least like 25 words in them.
So a 1000 post requirement, I wouldn't reach for another year at least.
I say make it require 1000 post OR 200 karma, not both. That's just overkill for a feature like this.

How about a simple 50 post requirement...

Cuz it's not really fair for people like me who haven't been here so long ;_;
Plus... if someone's got about 50 posts, they're more likely to stay anyway... as opposed to someone with less than even 40....

I think it would be kinda nice, but I think it would just kill off some of the lesser forums... Besides sometimes you post in those forums by looking at what others a just posted.
