Richard Zednik incedent...
...this topic is mainly about the safty issues going on with hockey...as some of you would know, Richard Zednik of the florida panthers was cut in the neck by a skate not too long ago...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk-2hs_XoXE
...so then erupted the debate of weather hockey players should wear neck guards...

...I think the main argument was that the neck protector is insufficient...

okay just to be open about that, i dont watch hockey, ive played it like once and i know nothing about the regulations of the saftey equipment so myquestion is:
they have something to protect the players neck now? and it clearly isnt doing its job right. so they should just make something new and inforce that to be the standard.
so the big deal is that the players feel in danger more or less and want the hockey leauge to do something about it right?

...yeah they should...but players just won't take it...it's like wearing a visor with your helmet...alot of players won't do it so, I guess it's up to them...
...plus...there was no neck protector worn by players(exept for the goalies maybe) so then this becomes an issue because some players say that they don't feel comfortable about it...

well... if one is willing to risk their life for a sport i guess that is up to them.
though they are being paid so... someone has them under contract and so on so they should have some kind of say... maybe?
sounds pretty silly to me.
get like a kevlar neck scarf. bam. i just solved everything.
but really. there have to be tough yet flexible materials you could use for this instance. then you arent comprimising and its only for safely. no down side at all.

my god... thats surprisingly hard to watch, and i tend to be quite evil!
yeah, the thing is though, if that happens once in ten years, that like saying all builders should carry a steel cage with them, because sometimes a tonne of bricks fall on them!
if its awkward, its there choice,
but after seeing that, there aint no way youd catch me without it!

wow, those 2 guys lost a lotta blood
i know the chances of this are minimumso any hard action about it might seem useless...
as for wearing stuff around your neck, if the material isn't realy flexible i gues it would become a bigger danger to the players rather then safety...

...that's another problem, whether the material does more harm then good...I know that in kids hockey the players have to wear it...
