No, we believe that to make a true and good confession, examine your conscience, everytime. Then go and confess all the sins you can remember. Don't hold anything back and if you are sincere, and are truly sorry, you will be forgiven of those sins. So you have to confess every single sin you remember comiting basically. If you miss some because you do not remember them, then that's o.k.....as long as they are venial. If they are mortal...it's advised not to forget about it, but go to confession and confess it as soon as possible.
Don't worry about the DP. But my question is whether or not the confession will affect your eternity.... When I do confess its generally as much as I can remember, but would it affect your eternal future?

Yes, it does affect your eternity. For every venial sin forgiven is not punished......an forgiven mortal sin is punishable with so many years in purgatory.

You see, Purgatory is the thing in between heaven and hell. You suffer some, but it's not nearly as bad as hell, and it's only temperary..think of it as a way to prepare you for Heaven. And once you get to purgatory...you will be going to heaven, once your time in purgatory is up. It's just a temperary thing. It's not eternal like heaven and hell.
But then its not mentioned in the Bible, from what I can see anyway. So why would it be in existence. And surely the ultimate punishment for sin is death, so why would there be extra punishment for sin?

It's to purify you before you go into heaven. Heaven is the ultimate reward, and sometimes you have to be purified to get in....am I making sense to you?

Catholics are really the only christian faith that believe in purgatory they also have something called the Hall of Souls (No idea what that is though)

Religion!
I'm not sure where to start!
I'm an athiest, i would love to believe theres something else out there, but i cat, i believe seeing is believing, or at least knowing!!!
the problem i have is religious people can at any time say, "if god wanted to prove himself to you, he would."
and i hate that!
there are too many inconsistencies... "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth..." what about the rest of the universe?
"then he made man..." what about Dinosaurs?
things that are now scientifically proven. rules the bible out! not sure of exact quotes, but Sodom and Gomorrah... "The Heavens and earth opened up and..." i understand why back then people would believe it, but now, we have science, back then people didnt know about tectonic plates, natural disasters etc...
i think religion has a very good moral meaning, wants you to do the right thing... but its so two faced, church is no longer a place of worship, people go there to balance check books!

i just... i need proof... im not saying christians and religious people are wrong... im Certainly not judging, im more than happy for people to be religious, but dont shout at me in the street, dont come to my door! its like the church has become a mass corporation!
If god was real... why wouldnt he do something aout what were doing, to the earth and more importantly each other. christians i know have said things like global warming and the end of the earth is gods punishment, i dont believe it is, its our own punishments for the *-ups we've made in evolution.

.........where did you hear about the "Hall of Souls"? I've never even heard of it before.....because we only believe in Heaven, hell, and purgatory.

Right: in genesis, it says in the 6th verse that God separated sky from water. In a sense that shows that God did create the universe(sky). And since Christians believe the Bible to be the word of God, theres a lot of poets and prophets who speak of God as the God of the universe, so that means that he is.
As for dinosaurs- what about them? God could have created them, and depending on the creationist view taken by a Christian, they could well have existed.
And about Sodom and Gomorrah, why would God not be in charge of causing it? And how do you explain the day in the conquest of Canaan, when the sun was said to have delayed going down for a full day?
And its in the bible that the existence of God can be seen through what was created, so there shouldn't be more proof needed I think.
As for Katrina, well, Christians shouldn't have a worldly view, and maybe by losing all they have will they understand that. And the world was perfect when it was made.... Then the fall came round.

My husband and I were both raised Catholic, but I've been an atheist for a long, long time and he doesn't practice. I do like to study other religions and their text, and the one that I think that I can understand the most, or the one that I think that I could connect with is Buddism. Its more of a way of life that a religion that worships a 'higher power'.
