Red Steel 2
Arc requested a review of this game, so here i am trying to do so
This was one of the first games i got that required the wii motion plus, after wii sports resort, so i was quite curious to how they made that work when i got it, and i have to admit, blasting away with pistols while still swinging a katana is a lot of fun, and good exercise too depending on your settings (there's a part in the options menu where you can set the amount of energy needed for it to register the blows of the sword)
there are 4 guns and of course your katana
the story's about a gunslinging samurai who was thrown out of the kusagari clan.
The story starts off with you being dragged down a road behind a motorcycle
you earn money by destroying almost anything you can find and taking on missions that help you go through the story line of what happened to your clan, you're befriending with a martial arts teacher, a sherrif, a gambler/cassino owner and a techno geek that help you learn new things etc.
the money you earn can be used on upgrading your weapons, armor, health and buying special moves for fights
you also learn, 5 or 6, can't really remember, kusagari powers, which are very strong and usefull powers you can use in battle
unlike red steel 1, you actually have the free choice of weather or not you wanna pull your gun or swing a sword, so i consider that a really good improvement
the fights get a lot harder over time too, but nothing you shouldn't be able to handle besides the boss final fight (i had to redo that one a few times till i got the hang of it)
all in all i would give the game an 8 with the only reason i don't give more points for the lack of replay value
it has no multiplayer which the first did have, and after finishing the story line you're pretty much done, all that's left after that is redo it all on a harder difficulty or just play the chapters to try and increase your points.
the graphics looked great, gameplay was epic, even my parents, who usually don't like these kinda games, sat down to see me whack the wii controller around like a sword, block incoming blows and fire my guns.
story line was really good too.
so it's a recommended game, though i hope there's gonna be a Red Steel 3 that should add more replay value to this game.
