Red Dead Redemption
So i got the game. im loving it. since its cross platform and all i wanna do here is talk about cool stuff i figured id put it in the general gaming area. I got it for ps3 though, so if you wanna play online... thats where ill be.
anyway, its a ton of fun. if youve played a gta game in the past 5 years then you pretty much already know how it controls which is cool. and the horse animations are the best ive seen in a game... ever.
the whole feel of the game really works. im not much of a western fan but this has changed that for sure.
anyone else pick it up?

Just played it last night, my friend brought it over. Ran over a guy with my horse and lost 50 honor and was wanted. Only played till about getting the 1st Stallion (beginning missions so not really spoiler). Then I accidentally shot it in the head while fighting.

I'm also strongly considering to get my hands on this game! It looks really cool and entertaining!
I never was a big fan of the GTA-series (not including the sand-box gameplay, which is great in itself!), but I have a taste for Western-themed games.
Besides, RDR have some strangely awsome glitches!

first off... it controls a lot like a gta game of course and open world wise... its super open world. pretty much from the get go. In my mind, that was a bit of a mistake, but hey, that was the west as we know it pretty much. so for the first... 3-4 hours, stick to the missions. by that point youll have all the tolls you need to just ride around and rock.
the multiplayer is a tad disappointing so far, but free co-op missions are said to be out in june. 6 of them. im pretty pumped for that.
also, a lot of people had problems with the story of gta, not to mention the missions gameplay itself. well i feel that rockstar really putted they stuff together here. the story is, in my opinion, the best they have ever told, and the missions are pretty great. just when you think you know where a mission is going to take you gameplay wise, they change it up.
overall it took me about 21 hours start to finish. and let me say, the ending does not disappoint if you are a western/bad@ss fan. its in my top 5 game endings for sure.
just a note to everyone, regardless of pre-launch screen shots, do not try and fight a bear with just a hunting knife.

Fire and Ice by Robert Frost.
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice. |
