everyone has the same chances yeah, but only if you play the game, some do not...
i've not been here long at all, but i can already see that brave apples are more common than strange tickets. i've acquired 3 apples but only 1 ticket so far.

Well, some items are rares, and some are unique rares.
A rare is like a brave apple or burmos phone cord. The most expensive rare item is a brave apple.
If you find a unique rare, you can get quite a lot of gil for it, depending on the buyer. I usualy pay a lot to help out whomever found the unique rare. Others will try to swindle it from you for cheap.

My "Commad Materia" is an example. Well knida. Fun has one but I don't know if he is planing on getting rid of it. Rage's "Happy Cookie" is a Unique Rare. If you find an item that no one else has to go me or Rage and we will give you fair prices for them

Cloud's stuff isn't a unique rare, others have them, however it is one of the most valuable since everyone wants them (to make a sephiroth sword).
Command materia is no longer a unique rare, there are several available now.
