Definately behind. The fact of the matter is, metric is much easier to keep up with because it is mainly based on 10's whereas our measurements are based on really odd amounts.

There is that too. But the majority of Americans don't even know the Metric system that well at all. Myself included. And as a nation ruled by the majority (or so we claim) that means that technically, our nation doesn't even know the metric system. If our nation was an individual person, however, it would be more like the Metric system was a repressed memory than something that it doesn't know at all. lol

Hm. OK. So that is what it is called.
That still doesn't make my education look pristine, though, does it?
I use this system, yet I didn't know what it was called.
Well, supposedly, even we are going to switch to the Metric system eventually. I don't know why we haven't sooner. If we have a universal system, that boosts immigrants' understanding, as well as understanding of each other. But the main thing I think should be done is that I think a new language should be made and every country should agree to speak it. The reason it should be a new language is because of the fact that every country will want their language spoken. If we all compromise, it might be possible.

It might be called something else in America. It's known as Imperial measurements because they were made and used back when Britain was an empire.
English is pretty much the global language. A lot of countries which don't speak English are teaching it at schools, although there's bound to be those who don't know English. Of course, Americans teach American and not English. There are enough differences for it to be a different language.

I think US English is literally it's own language since it has different spelling than proper English.
Words like colour and litre etc are spelt differently in the usa.
Jamaica recently wanted it's own language since they believe there are enough differences, lol.
Also, when I install programs on my pc it asks for U.K English or US English...
In Australia we sound different too but still use proper English for spelling etc.
As for not using metric units, it must be because they don't see a reason to. Unfortunately at my uni we need to know English/Imperial units just in case

Well yeah, we have tables of conversion in textbooks
The worldwide unit of measurement is called 'S.I. Units', the old one (or american one lol) is written as 'English units'.

The only reason for that is that we came up with them. We were one of the first countries which switched to the Metric system.
