I was looking forward to it but after reading all of the negative reviews I decided to pass on it. I loved all of the previous PSO games on the Dreamcast, Gamecube, and PC. I usually do not let reviews sway me on rather to buy a game or not, however when the reviews complain about things that I wouldn't like myself, then I usually decide to pass.
I heard that they did away with the manual three hit combo where you had to time your attacks perfectly to pull it off. It added a lot of tension to the game when you were low on health against a tough enemy. That made the whole game a lot more challenging since you were taking risks. Now that it is noobed down to where you just push one button I cannot imagine having as much fun doing that.
For some reason not many gamers know about the Phantasy Star series, and the fact it has what is considered a high monthly online fee would sway other gamers from playing online. The GC version servers were completely dead except for the cheaters and the abusers. I have no idea why Sega didn't incorporate flood protection since someone could type or spam the same smiley nonstop for hours.
There is no reason to pay $15 per month when Sega does nothing to fix these things. Little annoying things like that bring more frustration than a fun experience and I was hoping that PSU would have resolved those issues but judging by the reviews I would think not. If the Seganet servers would have never closed I probably would still be playing V2. Man those servers were packed I met a ton of friends on those servers daily.

Well, I still find it very good, You just have to find a good group of players like my sister did (she join a guild with over 60 members) They are all legit so she doesn't mind it.

Cool man and without playing the game myself I couldn't say for sure how good it is. Going by what you are saying I can understand how can it can be fun with a group of friends. Good luck finding those rares!
