That is the real question. Though they are short in stock, there is still high demand, despite problems. Would you get one, despite everything about it?

Im in Europe where we have to wait till March for the PS3. I was considering getting the PS3 at launch but the only game I really want to play on it atm is Resistance. By March we will have more games for our launch so it will be alot more worth it then. Still not sure if ill buy it at launch though as FF12 should have just been released by then.
At the moment if I was in America im not sure if I would consider it worthy of the money. If you look at it like an investment in the hope thats what to come is great then it's worth it, if you look at it by whats on it atm it's not worth it and your probably better off staying with the PS2 or whatever you use to play games on.
The bugs wouldn't bother me as there rare and theres a 1 year guarantee anyway so if it doesen't work just get your money back.

i will definitely get one some day(also out in march for me) but not on release, wait till it goes down in price- plus there is always bugs and things with consoles.

I played a few PS3 demos in the store and the graphics are as good as what my PC has been pushing for the past few years. I know that this is still the first gen and that the graphics will get better, however those with powerful PCs will experience superior graphics. Back then this wouldn't matter since it was all about gameplay, but now since MS and Sony are 99% focused on graphics first and gameplay last, it makes a difference in this day and age.

whats interesting is that those launch games are actually 2nd gen PS3 games.
half of them were ready to be shipped Spring of this year, or at least close to it. and with sony delaying the console so often the launch game designers got something that no other launch game title has EVER gotten.. a perfect timeline.
imagine this:
you are required to make a product in 8 months when it normally takes 12 months.. and on the 7th month you are almost done (but it has a ton of bugs of course, i mean you cant compress time without losing anything) and then you are informed that you actually have 17 months instead of 8, so you finish the product in about 3 months, and use the remaining 7 months to fix bugs and add content.
yes they dont tap the power of the console very well. but i would point that at the complexity of the console. because they did have a much longer game development time than other launch games.
Interesting news:
Warhawk is coming out on the 360 and PC now. its nolonger a PS3 exclusive... wonder how they will play without motion sensitive controllers? (oh wait the PC has one)

i've deffinently changed my mind about the PS3. im leaning more twords the Wii and then the 360 and MAYBE later the PS3.

Im going to wait a while for the PS3, even if it is just because of the short supply of them...but i definitely think it's worth the money

i forget the name of the place, but some online store has a $100 rebate for the 360. so the Premium is $299, and the core is $199.
keep in mind its a rebate, so you pay the full price and get $100 back.

I don't care how new or great a gaming system is supposed to be, I definitely wouldn't pay over $1000 like people were doing on eBay. That's just crazy. My mom always used the adage, "A fool and his money are soon parted." I think it definitely applies in this case.
No, I don't think the system is worth what they're asking. It has too many kinks, no games I would want to play on it, and will come down in price after a little bit if people will be patient.

dont worry, the demand for a PS3 dropped quickly, the (selling) E-bay price is about $50 more than the MSRP.
so thats $650.
quite honestly save yourself some money and go into a retail store and pick one up, they havent been exactly flying off the shelves.

i guess at the end of the day, to pay that kind of money, it would have to be the greatest console ever built...and at the moment, no evidence points this way.
but is it true that the ps3 is multiregional...meaning any game can be played on it such as japanese imorts etc.?
