PS3 in stock?

today at 3:00pm we got a shipment of 5 PS3's in our store.

supprised. we took down our "the PS3 is temporarily out of stock" sign and started telling customers who were shopping for playstation products that we did have them in stock.

at 11:00pm when we closed. we had 4 left.

employees are prohibited from purchasing PS3's at all, and even then we asked employees if they could, would they buy one of the PS3's we had in stock. all but one employee said "no"

there was one customer who was planning on getting a PS3, he was excited and had a bundle of games to purchase... unfortunately those games were just pre-order boxes and the only game he held that was actually a game was Resistance fall of Man.

when we pointed this out.. he had to think.. yes THINK about whether he wanted to continue with the purchase. he did anyway, and bought a pre-order for Oblivion.

does this make sense to anyone at all?
we have Wii's in stock. but we are not allowed to sell them until Sunday when its in our ad. but its perfectly fine to sell the PS3's that are also in our ad.

Maybe people have stopped looking and prefer to wait till you are able to just walk into a shop and pick one up. It is also just one store out of many and however much demand a console has there will always be the occasional place with some in stock.

I really dont think the demand would have gone down just yet. Anyway if it has Sony should send some consoles over to us in Europe because we will buy them.

See if you sell them today or at the weekend. If you dont then maybe people have lost interest.

amazing. today, we started with 4 in stock. we opened at 8:00am

at 5:00pm when i left to go home, we had 2 left.

its quite possible that by now (8:00pm) they sold the last two.. but seriously people. you have NO idea how many people we told that we had the PS3 in stock.

maybe it was a fluke.. but my point is.. with the PS3 on a "whenever we get them" schedule. they can come in at ANY time at all.

well maybe people just arent wiling to part with that kind of money, once the hardcore fanatics are out of the way, the everyday person just wont bother...no matter what time of year it is (hell of a lot of money). to be fair, even when its out over here i will still wait till a price drop.

then again, didnt the ps2 get off to a shaky start (dont remember really though). i reckon the ps3 is going to be a long term thing...it'll win the war like the rabbit and the turtle race...slow and steady.

I dont think the PS2 had a shaky start. Sony produced 2 million consoles for launch just for Japan I think and it was a lot cheaper.

The only thing shaky about its start was games that didnt look very good. Just like how some PS3 games look at the moment. The PS2 had some average looking games with one standout which was SSX. The same goes for PS3 average looking games with one standout that is Resistance Fall Of Man.
