You forget, we live in britain, land of immigrants and asylum seekers where every ethnic minority can celebrate their cultural heritage except the english. Unless it's St George's Day. That's it. Political correctness has gone so far that what is supposedly the ethnic majority (white anglo saxon protestants) (majority my arse) can't say anything without being called racist or being accused of inciting hatred of some kind. It's crazy, we live in England and I should be allowed to celebrate my englishness without some douche locking me up for anti-(insert flange here)ism. I mean to be honest there's not a lot to be proud of when your english but I'd like to have the option.
Remember kids, in the words of a wise comedean I just saw on telly 5 minutes ago. 'the united kingdom is only united in as much as the scottish hate the english, the irish hate the english, the welsh hate the english and the english hate everyone else, including most of the english.

There's a part of me that says other countries have it right. France for example, they love going on about how awesome being french is and anyone who says different can shove it where the sun doesn't shine. You go to their country, to be a part of their culture. If being wherever you came from is better then why did you leave home?
I wouldn't move to germany and expect them to start promoting sunday dinners and celebrating the queen's birthday just on my account so why does england do it for everyone else? There a difference between being tolerant of other cultures in your country and casting off your national identity. America might be full of immigrants, but it's always been full of immigrants and America is still very aware and proud of it's own national identity you guys wave flags and sing the national anthem and know your own motto. Half of england can't even hum the national anthem let alone sing it. I'm vaguely aware that there's a song somewhere called 'god save the queen' that gets played once in a blue moon and at the olympics. It's a travesty and something needs to be done about it.
once they told us to stop putting up england flags here during the world cup that was it for me, too far when you cant even hshow supports for your country even in a sport without beign called racist XD

schools in japan won't raise the japanese flag or sing the national anthem at graduations (despite the government asking). People associate it too much with the government under the emperor. The only people who fly the flag outside (besides government buildings) are yakuza and crazy old men.
