To take a screenshot of your desktop hit the print screen key on your keyboard (it reads Prt Scr on the key) then open up an image program and select the option to create a new project and while it opens up a new blank page use the paste command to paste the screenshot. Then save as jpeg, I would provide more details but I am not sure which image software you use, I have photoshop.
