Politics 101
This is a thread which targets that which rules all: Politics.
A question shall be posed every so often & you are to give your heartfelt reply.
Be as honest as possible.
In this age of Post-Enlightenment, I find that humans are more willing to give up their rights of choice. From the poorest peasant who pays a $5 fee to have his miniscule paycheck deposited into his bank account to the richest prince who has a team of accontants maintain his vast riches; personal responsibility has devolved for some time now. As a Global Edict of the "War on Terror," the "War on America," & the "War on Wal-Mart" have become the norm, humans forget that they have a choice in the matter. Ignorance/Complacency is ingrained into our political & economic systems, so is it any wonder why the masses are so quick to give up their rights for the "national good."
My question to you is: Do you agree that there is an innate sense of complacency in our respective nation's political system?

yeah... actually i do!
if you were to pose that question to the government, they would surely disagree and come out with a poor comeback of "its a democracy, of course you have choice" but... what choice do we have? really? theres all too much facism in government nowadays, they only want whats best for them and in the end its only about money to them, money and power!
for example, my opinion on the US government and their "war on terror", it was for just that... Money and power... Money (oil) and power (taking over what they can)

My Own?
its worse!
it annoys me because well do what ever Uncle Sam wants us!
our government seems to think because america helped in WWII that we have to lick there arse at ever turn,
lets be honest america didnt give a $hit until Japan made their silly move at pearl harbour!
so now our government seems to think we owe them our allegiance in a war that "Actually" has nothing do do with us! and its our guys that are dying there! i wonder if the US military know the difference between and iraqi soldier and a brittish one!

If I get the question right, no, there isnīt an innate sense of complacency here in my country. Actually, thereīs no such thing as complacency, since over the last four years or so, the government has done whatever they wanted to, regardless of people.
I donīt know if what comes next is a good thing, but even statistics from government charts are lying (as an example: inflationīs supposed to have been 1.4% last month, October, but prices of most things went 20-50% more than September). What does the government do? Deny it all, as they keep filling their pockets.
Because, after all, thatīs what all is about I guess... Power blinds people, and so does money.

here in the us, there's an overwhelming fear of becoming a socialist state, but yet we consistently forgo our better judgment only to elect leaders that approve laws and judgments that take away personal freedoms, leaving each and everyone feeling like the other side is to blame, and ultimately proceeding towards that which we fear. and in the end, it leaves most dysphoric and dejected. Thus creating a vicious cycle to be passed onto our future.
So to answer your question I'd have to say yes.

it was ruff to be sure, living in arkansas there wasn't that many opportunities for uneducated people, and my parents sadly fell into this category. Things were tight, but we always seemed to make it. let me tell ya, we sold a lot of firewood those years just to help get by. at the time i was fairly young, i don't remember too much really until the mid to late eighty's.

i hear ya
my problem is that i grew up during argueably the best economic period of our country's history (the 90s) so i came to think that i could have anything i wanted because money flowed like water
the 21st century brought a widening gap between the rich & poor
while my family was middle-class in the 90s, we slipped into the working poor class thanks to the marginalization of labor, weakened job-security, & outsourcing
and i know iz not all george bush's fault, but he isn't making anything easier for working families
