Police tasering
It seems like a lot of people are making a big deal out of this now. Some may disagree but all of the videos posted on the net that say "omg the police tasered someone for no reason!" - it appears as though the police are justified since the person is not listening and running around. I remember watching the show COPS and the earlier episodes when the police didn't use tasers had to tackle someone and would wind up with their whole face bloody. I think a lot of people are being hypocrites since I am sure if they had to option to taser an out of control person or try to tackle them they would choose the taser.
Plus I am sure the next time the person wants to resist arrest the thought of being tasered may make them surrender immediately before putting others in danger.

Um, yeah. There is probably like an occasional instant when they tasered the wrong person.... But I guess especially in places where guns are commonplace, its either get shot; shoot the person holding the gun and injure them with a proper weapon, or taser them.
Besides, tasers aren't exactly that dangerous, at least not as much as some people make it out to be. Its probably better than using a baton, the worse someone gets is like a small headache for a bit.... Rather than bruises.

i think if someone is dangerous and poses some sort of threat then tasering is fine. not sure if its necessary if someone is just being a pain/disruptive.

Well, they obviously failed to restrain him.... And that guy just didn't listen to the cops..... If they can't restrain him and hes not cooperative, then I don't think they have much option.

There is a local radio station here in Central Fla that tases their interns for fun. Its highly entertaining.
But seriously, I think that it is a great alternative to being shot in the....um, bum.

I am glad you guys agree because on sites like digg most of the people there are like "man that is torture!" or that the cops tasered people with they could be calmly subdued and such. I suppose they are just little kids who do not understand the real world.

haha now thats a really funny image
anyway...to the topic...well i dont think it's such a bad idea..i mean it's better if the police shock you than shoot you when you're being out of control and the situation is rather dangerous...also if someone is worried that they might use it on ppl unfairly, like for no reason...i think that if a cop wants to be unfair and just likes being mean to ppl, taser or no, he will find a way to do so anyway...well at least some cops dont have any trouble with it here >.<

What the people are complaining about isn't the tasering, it's the continued tasering while the victim is lying on the ground already at the mercy of the police. There have been instances like the guy in Canada who died because of this.
I'm all for tasers but clubbing the person probably hurts more.

Thats a different matter- tasering when on the ground is a big no, since you should be able to sit on the person to restrain them...... And not waste electricity..... And help reduce CO2 levels...... And slow down global warming.

To be honest, the tasering thing sounds good, but as Stapler said, not the excess either...
Anyhow, cops should have something that keeps the suspects close and doesn´t kill them.
