Platinum!
I just received the platinum trophy for FF13 after using a slightly cheap trick for the Treasure Hunter trophy. You will probably still need to spend around 5 million before you can get all the way with this method, but anyway, just to briefly describe how I did it:
1.Keep killing adamantoise/Shaolong Gui until you get at least 6 trapezohedrons (or however many ultimate weapons you don't have) and 5 dark matters.
2.Start with the accessories, upgrade everything to the highest tier. Make sure you do it in some logical order, having the official guide helped me there (not that it appears in the same order as the guide when you sort categorically).
3.Once you have all accessories, upgrade 1 of Lightning's weapons to max and get the rest to tier 2. Do the same with Sazh and Snow.
4.Now sell every weapon and accessory you don't need. If you have a maxed out Kain's Lance (Fang) upgraded from Taming Pole, it disintegrates into about 1.2 million gil worth of premium conponents.
5.Now, start on Hope and do the same as the other 3 characters (one ultimate, rest tier 2).
6. Do the same for Vanille and Fang, repeating step 4 if you run out of gil.
7. Once you have all weapons and accessories, speak to Bhakti (the robot in Oerba) and claim your prize!.
A few notes:
1. You only need every accessory and weapon. Thankfully that means you only need 1 ultimate weapon for each character. You do not need to collect all items.
2. You need to be sure to go through this process in a systemic manner. I got it on the second attempt at trying this. I screwed up the first time only to find that my messup was simply not buying a Nimbletoe Boot from Moogleworks.....
3. If you're going to save it after getting this trophy, save it on a different file, this trick may screw you battle-wise.....
4. In total, you will need about 100 Perfect Conductors (i think- its the one that costs 10k each) and about 10 Ultracompact Reactors as well as quite a lot of transforming stuff, do not sell these during the game, they cost loads.

Congrats  I would comment further but I am not at that point yet. I am trying to prolong this game as long as possible since I know once I beat it I will just go back to being bored and working nonstop again.

Yeah, I'm trying to prolong the game until Versus is released. >.> Somehow, I can't see that working.
