Physics

How many other people have learned anything about this subject? I find the Mother of all sciences very interesting, especially if one can see it through the eyes of philosophy. Maybe it is the fact that the study of nature allows us to understand the universe much better.

The bascis really don't do anything, but when I began going a bit deeper into the field...I don't know, it's just a special feeling. I just start paying more attention to everything and why they happen.

What does anyone else here think?

Or would they like to discuss anything about it here?

I find myself watching and getting into the "into the wormhole" with Morgan Freeman series on Discovery Science. all the different theory's on the big bang, coupled with what little I know makes it a crazy show.

My only physics class was senior year of high school but i really enjoyed it. To be honest, I dont remember much if anything from the class but i have a crazy amount of books on the subject so that when im done with school, i can just learn physics for fun. totally looking forward to it.

I find quantum physics very interesting because they are looking into using actual molecules to store data in. Setting a charge somehow on a molecule (or atom I cannot remember at the time of writing this). Which would make the size of data storage grow by a ridiculous amount (like 1000's of 1000's of terabytes).

Also just learning a little bit of quantum physics and the two theories that are pretty high up there (again this is older information) Many Worlds theory is the most interesting but probably unlikely....

I'm quite the fan of physicist Michio Kaku for his wirtings on multi-universes, wormholes, quantum physics (particularly M Theory and String Theory), his knowledge on Einstein and other. It's a very easy read.

The Uncertainty Principle is fun to think about from a more objective standpoint, as I am no mathematician.

Nano-tech uses Quantum physics so it is applicable. You cannot do things on such a small level without first learning the laws of said level.

My friend is in Nano tech at Waterloo and in his intro to Nano tech, he had to take a 3rd year Quantum Physics course.

I want to know about electrons more. I was told that and electron could be where it is suppose to be or half-way across the galaxy at the same time.

or that electrons could be spinning in every direction at once, but when we "observe" it, the power of our observation forces the electron to choose a direction? Like how some experiments on sub-atomic particles cannot be viewed, because the act of observing them would shift the particles they are trying to observe.

Crazy mind bending stuff!

I'd say you feel it's crazy because it's something completely new. The photon that goes in your eye is from the electron so it affects it. This is the same for all wave functions. Now I will study for a quiz on it tommorrow.

That is true isn't it Lucky. Take someone from the 1920's and tell them about modern day computers and that stuff would be mind blowing, but to us it is just everyday life. I want to see the world where quantum physics is everyday life that most people know to a moderate degree and when an actual theory or theories can be laid out as the truth because there is nothing better the satisfy our findings.

I think we'll finally all have hover cars by then and be living on the moon! lol

ah old times

the last time i took physics was...almost 2 years ago ; ; though the subjects were electronic-oriented ^^;
i remember, when i was in highschool i loved it...i read a book about the theory of the universe, how it could either expand till the planets are shot out of their orbits or join again in a mass of hot matter. my sister saw that on tv and was so scared afterwards XD

i think what most interests me are universe-related topics, what happened, what's happening and what will happen
like those starts exploding and sending waves to earth, even when they're millions of light ages away...there's a star so big and it's ready to explode, it's 8,000 million light years away i think, and when it explodes, it'll take mostly everything with it, including the earth, and then it'll be nothing but a dark hole

^^ yes i love looking into that XD

Pysics does indeed tell us some damn scary things and some outright weird stuff, especially when you get into stuff like string theory and other pysics theories involving the nature of the universe as a whole, fascinating but scary.

I love Physics! I studied it throughout high school and my first year of university. I still do now in my second year, but only theoretical physics and not as much as I did. I think the most part I enjoyed was AMO physics in my senior high school. I find it very interesting and would really like to know more than I do, especially when watching The Bing Bang Theory lol.
