I've played all of the Onimushas
The newest one (which came out late last year) Dawn of Dreams is really good...
It does, in a way, have rpg elements to it. It's just in a different style you could say

I don't really like the lack of replay value in the games.

hey guys, i finished Onimusha Warlord few days ago. Well, i really enjoy the action, the feel of the game. But don't u all think that the story really short? The backbone of the story can be felt tho..but, it's quite loose throughout. Also, im playing the second one...enjoying it as well.
Looking forward to demon siege and dawn of dreams. Well, which do u all think is the best of the series?
Btw, how nice if onimusha is released in a Grand Theft Auto style. Where u can take on various mission (escort, assassination, spy, investigation, or sword-fighting competition, etc.), have a horse that enables free-roaming (imagine man, fighting on a horse). Well, in other words, we can experience stuff like we experience in GTA in ancient fuedal japan era...that's kewl. but it's juz a dream...
