Dragon Quest is so popular that they cannot legally release it on a weekday, because when they released Dragon Quest III on a weekday, kids skipped School, teachers skipped school, people took sick days, all just to get the game.

Slimes are cool.

Actually 1-4 are in English, I have the nes cartridges in my room. As well as the disks for 7.

How come then that DQ and FF comparisons are still opinionated?

This is something I don't get. FF never achieved the effects DQ had and it's still considered as great as DQ?

Much of DQ's direct impact outside of Japan is limited to the NES and SNES games. FF is more widely known among the next-gen gamers in the US.

Really, it all comes down to which company sent more $$$ to promote their series... for a year or two, Enix didn't even have a US office, so FF was able to gain a huge foothold in the RPG fanbase without a DQ to oppose it.
