Nintendo Revolution Controller!
Found here
Video showing off what it can do here: http://media.cube.ign.com/articles/651/651334/vids_1.html
In case you can't get the video, it basically shows people using the controller as a baseball bat, fishing rod, fly swat, a sword in a swordfight etc. Looks pretty cool.
summed up it has motion sensitive movement, i.e if you move the whole remote to the left, it registers as a left movement on the screen (like pressing left on a D-pad) etc.
It knows when it's tilted, and moved closer/away from the screen.
But I really don't like the look of it...I could easily mistake it for my TV remote.
For FPS
I was a bit disappointed when i first saw it. But after reading what it can do...I'm really impressed. First Person shooters would be so good on that system! But the only thing I don't like is how this system may only be filled with weird games, like the DS kind of is (like that XX/XY game). Not sure if it will have any "normal" games. Anyway I think it's a great controller going by that article and I honestly wouldn't mind getting one too, depending on the games it has.

Hey nice one Stapler, yeah you are right I bet at launch it will have a lot of weird party type games. I can already picture a Mario and Donkey Kong game using this feature. Plus wouldn't it make your arm tired having to aim at the screen for hours?

Wasnt there used to be a third party controller on the PS1 that looks just like that minus it wasn't implemented very well?
I'm worried for Nintendo for once. That controller's going to be a hit or miss and with third part developers' attention on ps3 and 360, I'm not sure if it will attract developers or turn them away from the Revolution.
Oh well, Nintendo might still survive anyway with their number of fanboys/girls behind them

Yeah. I can't really see myself standing up in the room playing cricket with the controller.Might as well do that for real in the street, at least smashing neighbours windows for real would be more fun. But I do like the idea of being interactive with the game a lot. just hope the developers can make some good in-depth games for it.
Though some games could be really cool on it, boxing, lol. Real time strategies and Shooters would also be achievable. Say you could move the screen by moving the joystick, and then control the pointer (sub for the mouse) by moving the remote. I like RTS games...
But I'm still heavily leaning towards getting the PS3.

Has there been any comparisons/criticisms between the controller and the Eye Toy? (I don't visit other sites often enough to know all the news)
It seems like the EyeToy would be far superior to the Revolution's controller and Sony could just add it to their ps3 as a built in instead of an external device or even combine Eyetoy technology with ps3 controller to simulate something along the lines of Revolution's controller.

Yeah it it just like the Eyetoy, and I am sure in Japan it may be popular since they like things like that, but I don't think it will sell well here. Doesn't Nintendo now seem to look like Sega before their consoles died? Doing anything possible to release hardware that is different then the other consoles to get people's attention? Nintendo had it's time, and I feel that 3 consoles are too many, it has always been 2 main consoles for gamers to choose from, and if nintendo developed for other systems in the future to grab the attention of people who would have never purchased a nintendo console, it would just mean more profit for them. RE4 would have been praised just as much as Halo and God of War if that game didn't have exclusive rights to the GC.

Fun I think RE4 had more praise than God of War.
Devil May 3 had more praises than God of War >.<
I take back what I said
After seeing the trailer, the controller is worse than a person playing Eyetoy.
I believe it won't sell much on either side, East or West.
I've played those arcade games and I've seen those arcade games where there are stuff like that.
The reason they were good is
1. It feels great playing with another member
and
2. No matter how lame it sounds, the sword games, the boxing games, the gun games, all of them had their special looks.
For ex. in that scene where the controller is being used as a sword? I've seen it in an arcade and it's actually semi-cool because the arcade controller looks like a sword.
The Rev controller looks like you're waving a frigging remote in the air. Way uncool even for the Japanese community. (Not that I know the Japanese too much neither do I know you Americans or UK people much either)
It's just that the mere act of waving the controller and pretending it's something else is lame in all cultures IMO.
Hell not even a child pretends that his remote was a sword. Nintendo might stand more chance of appealing people if the company made the Rev controller look like a friggin stick with a motion detector at the tip of it.
Anyway. End of my rant

Yes, however if you watch G4 (kinda lame but a videogame channel) they had these G4 awards for best games of the year, and RE4 wasn't mentioned for anything, it was all GoW and Halo. So since that award show is really pointless since gamers vote for the best games, it goes to show how many people never had a chance to play RE4 and see how great it was. It is a fact that there are more Xbox and PS2 owners out there, and all of them missed out on how awesome RE4 was.
So those same people are probably missing out on the games that sell the console that are Nintendo brand, and imagie if they developed for other consoles as well.

Ahh I tend to lose faith in most game awards of any type.
Most of the time, my most fav games are ignored because games like Halo are overhyped.
Since I haven't played RE4 but have read some of the reviews, I'm not sure it will get a best game nominee even if many did play RE4.
I've read that there were a great deal of fans who didn't like the new route RE4 took with all the camera adjustments and the lots of bullets available in stashes or zombies.
It might have been that which also affected the votes.
Out of sheer frustration out of watching the REV trailer. I tried pretending my remote (which looks like a fatter shorter Rev controller) was motion sensitive and I have to say that it's strangely addictive.
The fishing minigames and the cooking minigames motion work well since it reduces the button tapping and replaces it with wrist tapping which has less fatigue overall.
The gun mni game stinks and the sword minigame works well except that there's a good risk of accidentally throwing your controller into the tv screen when you're into it.
Take me for ex. who regularly fumbles and loses control of my remote or controller even when I'm just sitting. I don't think I'll love the Rev controller simply because of this reason.
Alot of things can go wrong and alot of ways even if you don't hit the tv screen there's a 90% chance of throwing the controller out of the window or into the floor and with people liking to destroy their controllers, I don't think the REv controller is durable enough to handle the pressure, not counting the number of times accidentally smashing it into something else.
As for space, it's also a no no. I'm predicting that people who bought the slim ps2 won't buy the rev simply because while the console size might not be a factor, you moving around will and I tried playing the rev controller while sitting using my remote as example and it's not as much fun. Also the external handle with the wire is easy to trip into or accidentally pull the wire while putting the controller down in a hurry or even misplace the external part.
Oh well, that's it for my criticisms. I was more frustrated than I earlier let on after watching the trailer.

So, it's a handheld Power Glove/Uforce combo... if this is the only controller the Revolution ships with, Nintendo has already lost the next generation of the console wars and my money.
For those that don't remember them, the Power Glove & Uforce were special NES controllers that worked by monitoring hand movements instead of pressing buttons like a normal controller. Both of them were major failures. Aside from just being hard to use and having poor movement detection, people's arms got tired real fast.
I move around a lot when I'm playing games. It's hard for me to sit still when I get excited, so I might shift position from lying down to sitting up. This controller would be terrible for me. If some third party company makes a more traditional controller, I might try that - but Nintendo has almost completely scared me away from the Revolution with this bomb.

Excellent point man. I just checked out the NR forum and a lot of Nintendo gamers are excited, probably since most of them were too young (or not born yet) to remember the powerglove flop.

Lol the powerglove actually looks cool even though it sucks. I don't think the Rev controller has anything cool about it

Yeah it did look cool, I remember that movie they made about that kid playing Super Mario Bros 3 with the powerglove in some tournament if memory serves me correctly.

Yeah, the Power Glove looked awesome... but that was the only good thing about it. If I tried to use it now that I've grown up, I doubt it would even fit my hand.

Except that the eye toy has a major flaw, you can put your hand up to the lens and hit everything.

I do agree with you there.
I think most of the games will be very very old school. Like arcade-type games with no real deep storylines etc. Which is what nintendo said it wanted to do, which doesn't really suit someone like me. But it's still early days yet.
