They have a whip in the Dragon Quest games well number 8 anyway and the character with the whip gets the advantage of being able to hit all enemies in the same move. It can be really useful.
Just a thought isnt Quistis weapon in FF8 a bit like a whip.

Anybody ever play a game called Legend of LaGaia would know about Ra-Seru which are these awesome little creatures that live on your arm and have weapons that come out of them for you to attack with and they capture summons for you. I would love to see something like them again. Some kind of symbiote like FuN was talking about.
Side note: Between Vincent007 and Cim's signatures, this thread is lagged pretty severely... annoying to say the least...

Perhaps some weapons that are living, each character would have a weapon that would come to life in battle and shares a conciseness with that character.
Or each character would have a weapon with an animal affiliation. ^.^

Remake of gunblades, different from the typical old ones the newer gunblade will have features like:
1. Reload chamber (8 holes for classic, and 12 ammunitions for automatic)
- User can insert/reload special bullets into the gunblade, for classic the gunblade would be semi-open (blade bend forward, and bullet chamber exposed something like duel barrel shotgun) while the automatic gunblades are reloaded by simply inserting the catridge of bullets!
- So when you're out of ammo, its time to RELOAD! (just like Vincent's gun - reloading during battle can be regretable but looks kewl!)
2. Bullets are separated to several elemental class, fire, ice, thunder, etc so upon firing the gunblade would result in elemental changes in the entire blade (firing Fire bullets will make the blade covered in flames!)
3. Improved shockwave system, bigger bullets, bigger propulsion, bigger OUCH!

how bout instead of having to face omega, ruby, and emarald weapon (or face them for the blade) they have there own weapon. like "Emorald blade" and "rub sword". and ultima will still be ultima. lol.
