Naming your characters
Gather round children, and give me your opinions.
Since FFX we have seen the fall of text based dialogue in our favorite of game series.
Is this a good thing? or a bad thing?
For starters, when i play the text based games, I tend to feel a bit more immersed in the story line, as i can let my imagination run wild and really personalize the way each character sounds.
Cloud would sound like me..
Tifa would sound like my fiance...
And Queen Brahne would sound like my mother..
With the conversion to voice acted dialogue we have also seen the demise of the ability to name your characters. (Aside from the lead in ten i think... cant remember)
That was another way, i found, to really connect with the game and the world setting, enhancing the whole experience for me.
Personally, I think to much was sacrificed in order to move into the 'Next Gen', especially when one of the voice actors has the most annoying nasal whine that you cant turn off... *Glares at Tidus... Then stabs him in the face*
So tell me younglings, What are your opinions?

This should be a poll =D
I do kinda think voice acting killed my imagination in terms of making up voices for the characters. but at least Square's never given us bad voice actors...
Still, It's a small price to pay for giving us a whole new viewpoint on the overall attitude of the character... cuz... you know... I probably would've imagined Wakka with a hippie kinda voice...
At least they let us name the Aeons xD

Well they could have a preset amount of recorded names so you could choose what name you want for a character. They dodged around it in FFX by never Saying Tidus lol
I like naming characters but I like voice acting.

i think the voice acting is good however i do wish you could rename the characters as that makes the game feel much more personal to me and it draws me in more... hopefully they change it in the future so we can rename characters and still have voice actors

I think it should be like it used to...it gives you a diffult name but you can rename them if you want...cuz I never chose too but it couldnt hurt to put it in there XD
