| My Video card surgery is done
*leaves OR*
*phew* ok the surgery on my x1900xtx video card is finished.
surgery you say? yes. there was nothing wrong with it.. it didn't have cancer, a tumor, or any life-threatening surgery no.
i gave it bigger boobs.
ok exactly what i did was this... if you ever own a high-end x1800 or x1900 video card. you will realize two things.. it is VERY hot.. and it is VERY loud. you can have one or the other.. or both. but you cant have neither.
so i bought and installed a new fan on my card. which is a procedure i have never done before. so i was excited.. and scared at the same time that i might permanently damage my $400 video card with no-one to sue for malpractice.
now my video card is whisper quiet (it is running at 100% fan speed and i cant hear it now.. the CPU fan is now the loudest component and covers everything else out.) when i can hear the video card.. it shounds like a gentle whooshing sound. not a high-pitched squeel. so its safe to say that when i reduce the CPU noise. my tower will be very nice to sleep next to (even more thanks to the boob job!)
so its quieter and cooler and lets me overclock the video card safely to slightly higher levels.
