My story (poem)
Behind your back these feelings grow.
Behind his back, no one knows.
I am girl. Just 8 years old.
My story of my life has never been told.
A story of a day I should have felt free.
Waking up everyday just to hear the birds sing.
But that wasn’t my story.
No.
My story is filled with much more grief
Inside. If I close my eyes I can still hear the screams
So now I ask the reader.
What would you do if you were 8 years old?
And the one you loved the most, the one you thought was invincible…
The one you thought would always protect you…
Hurt you?
Behind your back these feelings grow.
Behind his back, no one knows
I am a woman. Now 20 years old.
My story of my life has just been told.
But now let me tell you a another story.
A story of a day, I learned to be free.
Waking up everyday to a man who truly loves me.
A man who chose to love me.
Yes!
And I know he’ll never leave.
A man who doesn’t have to love me. But chooses never to leave.
I am a woman. 20 years old.
Learning to cope since I was 8 years old.
Since 8 years old my story keeps changing.
And maybe someday I will forgive and forget all
Of my past yesterdays today.

yes sir. it's truly is my story. when I was younger until I was 19 my dad used to abuse me. It's about being hurt by someone you love so much. but then finding in the end someone who truly cares and just loves me, just because he wants to. Not just forced love. My dad had to say he loved me. He's my dad. But I know it's not true. or maybe I'm just still messed up in the head from it all a little.

no, but this one guy knocked on our door, and told my mom that he saw the bumper sticker, and that he was thinking of committing suicide. we both gave him hugs, my mom invited him in, and they talked over hot cocoa, and his mind was changed. he wanted to live.

your poem was wonderful...i was abused by my mom at the age of 4...i could tell about the story of my life but i wrote a poem that is similar to my life as well...
"where am i now?"
by chantra tham
A-as if i'm cursed,
B-"i hate you"
A-is the only words repeated in my mind and verse
C-the choices i make, the pain it brings
C-it's as if i'm cursed, i wasn't able to shout, scream or sing.
D-through this sore scratchy throat caused by my painful sorrows of tears,
D-in my mind i kept repeating, "i have no fears."
E-through the choices i make,
E-could've or is my biggest mistake
F-through the drops of tears and pain,
A-as if i'm cursed,
F-i felt the insanity of suffering, i felt i'm no longer sane.
G-thrusting my head against the wall, "what threshold lies ahead?"
G-how much more pain must i endure, repeated in my mind, it's more easier said.
H-these repetitions cornered me as a rat
H-as if i'm no longer human, no longer sane, no longer with the phrase, "i can deal with this and that."
I-through the choices i make, the pain i bring to people around,
I-i felt i shouldn't even exist, not anywhere with solid ground.
A-it's as if i'm cursed.
