wowzers.
the resistance 2 beta was 2.2 gigs alone. w.t.h. is going on with people these days.
makes me questions microsofts download cap (which they are breaking for the new portal release on the 360) its just a terrible idea when you have dedicated servers that people are paying for. even more so when crazy crappy sony is putting out whole games ( confrontation, warhawk, wipeout, so on) on their free service.... i just dont know what microsoft is doing with that still.
oh hey thor. are you into podcasts? well 1up FM has a podcast (by that name) and they have a segment called backlog where they play older games and at the end they usually get a designer or something on and they talk about the game they just played. this week they talked about indego prohicy with a dude who worked on the project. you might like it with them talking about how the game evolved into what it was and going through the gaming industry. pretty interesting to me and perhaps to you. ( the podcast overall is pretty good if you have a long train/car ride)
the episode im refering to was put out on 10/20/08 (or 10/21/08 they labeled it two ways on the version i have from itunes so... yeah. but its like 44 min long. im sure you can just dl it and listen to it with whatever you want. is freez.

awesome ill add it to my itunes.
yah, the limits are good in one respect so that you force creativity on the developers of these small games to not make massive games that take up half a gig and turn out to not be that great.
if you had the option to, im sure most of those arcade devs would opt for nearly uncompressed textures and uncompressed audio. it would make everything look and sound better but would take up an incredible amount of space.
it also limits the quality of the games, it allows arcade to have reasonably competitive games rather than have a few massive titles that make all other arcade games look shoddy in comparison. it gives indi developers a chance.

but my problem is that so many things will get scaled down unless its a first party title or something. for instance. whipeout hd is only like 900 megs or something close to it, and its fantastic. and on the same spectrum there is pixel junk eden which is like 100 megs and both have their own greatness. i feel microsoft is unnecessarily limiting themselves which just shouldnt be the case when you guys are all paying for the online service as it is.

duuuude...
i was in basement of some warehouse, and this gigantic Mutant rushes at me from around the corner, i shout and press V (to bring up vats)
and there i am, this guy less than 6in from me... i have vats.
and a shotgun.
not only did i aim for his head and hit, i got a crit and his whole body exploded covering me in gore...
if you are sneaking and they dont detect you, you get an automatic crit.
so i sniped a guy from across the street in downtown DC, he had no idea, you could barely hear him talking to his buddy about something. then POP his head is gone and his body falls out the window. the other guy is shouting obseneties and starts firing out the window in my general area.
one last cool thing.
im out of ammo, all i have left is my pistol (which can take out a Super mutant, but i'll be near dead.) im back peddeling and firing like crazy, my clip is gone and he ready to rush in and beat me to a pulp.
i pull up my inventory, pull out a popcap mine, and throw it at my feet, and then try to get the Eff out of there.
popcap mines deal an extreme amount of damage, and usually kill everything. this guy went everywhere.

ugh. im trying to hold out on getting fallout 3 so i can get it for free for the holidays, but i dont know if i have the willpower. tell me awesome happenings from fallout 3 thor. (this could either calm me or send me over the edge. my fate is in your hands)

i raided the DC ruins, i went into the History Museum, and STOLE ABRAHAM LINCOLNS HAT AND RIFLE.
the gun is possibly the best gun i have found, the .44 ammo is scarce but the gun usually kills in one hit if you hit the head. im going to grow an ear to ear beard and wear a duster, put on the hat and free slaves wherever i find them.
i hit 20, and at 20 i got the perk Grim Reapers Stride.
what it does is whenever i kill somone in V.A.T.S i get my action points back (you spend action points in V.A.T.S for firing,) this means i can immediately reenter V.A.T.S and kill another guy, then again, and again and again.
i cleared a room of 5 super mutants in the total span of about 3 seconds.
have you seen my sig? it tells how many hours ive played this game. 47 hours since wednesday. in one week, ive spent two days playing fallout 3.
and i dident just turn it on and leave it running over night.. no, those 47 hours are gameplay hours. this game is ADDICTING.
guaranteed GOTY. i cant think of anything else that deserves it more.
sifer you should beable to wait a little bit, apparently the PS3 version is having more crashing problems that the PC or 360. apparently it can be game ending, so i would at least wait until the first patch comes out (which i imagine will deal with those problems first)
not sure why the 360 and PC arent so dirastically effected, i occasionally have a lockup, but every time i have a lockup its 30 seconds after i saved or something.

fallout 1 and 2 was awesome ARE awesome i actually just got finished playing 2 again
i didnt even know there was a tactics XD
cant wait for 3 but ill have to get a 360 or a better pc cos i cant play anything made after the 90's on here XD

by the way thor, that podcast i mentioned (i think it was earlier in this thread) had a great segment about xna creators club and the process of everything to get your game online. something like once you are done and it gets passed by peers (to check for like... terrible things in your game and so on) its only a 48 hour wait and your game is out there. pretty great considering the terrible wait it takes xbla games to go live.
