My Epic - please read and comment
Fallen Light
When the night’s last star died
Chained inside, my heart cried
But I still fought, torn apart
I knew if I ran beaten and blind
was my only chance to find
The brightest light, in the deepest dark
...
Then the light came into sight
and through the night I fled the fight
I'd finally felt hope, and I knew you were there waiting
I'd finally felt free, then I saw the light fading
I ran with everything I had, as the bright warmth neared
The darkness receded and took with it my fears
I could see you in the light, and then I heard you call
but nothing could prepare me for my impending fall
I'd fallen to my knees, as I looked up at you above
You'd fallen out of heaven and I'd fallen into love
"I'll give you my heart, if you'll take me and fly
Away from this hell, just you and I."
I begged you to soar and take me away
but you did so much more, you showed me the way
All the demons around me that I couldn't see
When you opened my eyes, I could see they were me
Now all that I am and all that I'll be
Is solely because of the soul you set free
I was saved from it all by a pure angels feather
You gave me your wings, and I'll love them forever
I took off in a burst and shot through the skies
But when I looked back, there were tears in your eyes
Nothing feels better than the freedom you gave me
Even though you couldn't follow, you still chose to save me
Now with blood turned to tears, there's no happy ending here
I can't find my wings, and I'm drowning in beer
Now I'm lost in this maze, forgetting your gaze
Blind in a haze, crawling through the days
Back to the fight, the love quick to fade
If only I'd known that we should've stayed

I worked on this for about 2 years while I was with my ex-fiance. She has refused to provide me with a copy, thanks to googling the line "all that I am...etc" I found it posted on an old friends myspace.

i liked it.
the part i liked the most was when you said 'beer'
that made me remember that i had to go get a beer from the fridge.
But on a serious note, that was deep, and was that written about your ex being dumped by you after making you fall in love with her..? or is there another message there?

She inspired me to get up out of my drug induced hell hole of a life and move to DC to make something of myself, which I did. But she couldn't keep up and wasn't ready for the life I had made for us, so we split up and she went back home to PA.
