My 360 finally died
ayup, last Wednesday it was randomly freezing and crashing, on Friday i called Xbox Tech support, and the guy was surprisingly helpful! and oddly enough the 360 got the 3 red rings of death while i was on the phone with tech support.
while my warranty is over, (i had a launch day console) i did get the CompUSA warranty for 2 years, i went to compUSA and got a brand NEW console (not refurb) right there and then.
i have NEVER had it be so easy to replace my console before. not only was it an american on the phone with me, he actually answered my questions honestly ("so i heard that my downloaded games wont work unless i'm connected online on a new console with a new serial number" "Yah, but call in again and we can fix that for you quickly.")
its sad that my console died, i knew it was coming (thats why i bought warranty!) it was expected from a Launch day console that it would one day kick the dust. but the whole ordeal was fixed in an afternoon and about 2 hours (1:30 of it was driving, since the two nearest CompUSA stores had closed, and the nearest one was 45 minutes away.)

this is actually quite amazing, they are not only extending the warranty, but refunding anyone who paid for repairs for a console that was previously out of warranty.

it was originally 3 months, then they extended it to a year. and now its 3 years. this adds substance to the 30% defect rate (honestly i think its alot lower, higher than i initially thought, but not 30%) but also shows that microsoft has a fix for it (a guy who has gotten 7 of them found out it is the GPU overheating, people who have gotten refurbished consoles back have found a new heatsink on the GPU suddenly) |

Its Official, at 7:45 pm central standard time My 360 died. . . . 30 hours into Lost Oddessy, disk 4, it just quit. the screen froze, the lights started flashing. I just unlocked most of the skulls on halo 3, just a couple more of the terminals and i unlock the running man achievement. AHHH! WTF! now what am i to do?
just think, Grand Theft Auto's new game's coming out in just a few weeks.... oh sad sad day, so so sad...
