@pinata

Damn got my situations mixed up. Your right about the resolving for countering. I was thinking about direct damage spells like Shock (which you have to wait for the creature to resolve).

Also you're right about the global destroy except for indestructible, which a global destroy will not destroy. So an indestructible Angel with Whisper Silk cloak on is quite a hard thing to kill.

But with your taunting elf, if the angel has the whispersilk cloak on it is unblockable so you just attack each turn your able to with the angel and then your angel is tapped and thus cannot block.

And you logic makes sense for the Remove Soul.

You post had no aggressiveness about it. I know you tend to make sure your posts don't but Anubis' seemed to me to have a patronizing tone to it. I cannot help if that is how he writes, but that is how I perceived it. Not all his post did, just the beginning seemed to me like that.

@Tifa
Oblivion Ring is like Exile to Nowhere from the earlier series. M10 I believe... or M11...

Is a planeswalker a permanent though? Also what do you play online on (PS3, Xbox, Comp?) I have Duels 2010 and my roommate has 2012.

Great card for an Infect Deck is Tangle Angler. For 1 forest you can make any creature block Tangle Angler if they are able to. its 1/4 infect which can be easily boosted to have devistating effects.

I loved my White/Green Infect Lifegain deck. Especially since I had two Elesh Norn's in it.

Gives your creatures +2/+2 and your opponents creatures -2/-2.

I reread my post and I have to apologize. It did come off that way and I didn't mean to be a * about it.

Did you even read my post about the platinum angel? Both you and Pinata(kind of) ) failed to even read anything I posted or a least you ignored the cards I said play on the angel.

Board wipe card? Will not touch it with Whispersilk Cloak (shroud; cannot be target of any spells) further more it is unblockable. Or Swiftfoot Boots which gives Hexproof (cannot be target of opponents spells) and haste.

Board wipe means mass destroy, which doesn't target.

Mabus wrote:
You may think they are overpriced and easy to kill but maybe you play a deck like that makes it easy to kill planes walkers. If you're playing someone who has out like 3 or 4 creatures no matter how small they can hold off your attacks on the planes walker (unless it is direct or unblockable). Even if you're not manastarved sometimes you cannot kill them in one hit and their +1 or whatever can do significant damage to you, Jace Mindsculpter (Banned in Standard).
Tbqh if you play a serious deck and don't have specific ways to deal with planewalkers then you've sort of brought it upon yourself. Red has direct damage, this is the simplest way to take them out, and a lot of serious decks run red in them. Black has a few tricks that are ridiculous, Vampire Hexmage has been running wild in the tournament scene ever since it was printed for that very reason. Blue has counterspells, bouncing, you name it. I'm sure white has something to deal with them, but I don't generally play white. Green has plenty of trample creatures, at the very least you'll be putting serious pressure on them.

On the note of the mindscuplter: It takes what, 6 turns to get that to go off? Really? That's a threat? They have to have a lot more going for them if that's how they're winning.

The player running this would have to give the Angel indestructible before the cloak or otherwise be unable to do so. This would give a pretty significant window of opportunity for bounce, exiling, responding with destroy effects, countering, etc.

True, you can just make your angel attack each turn, but you have to find a way to give your angel unblockable. Shroud doesn't give it unblockable, and it only has flying. In fact, there are very few cards that give a creature unblockable compared to the amount of cards that give a creature other effects at the very least. What card are you hiding behind your back? Sounds cool. Let me see! =D

He's been talking about Whispersilk Cloak for a while, which gives both shroud and unblockable.

@ everyon : NERD!

ahem anyway...I play on free software called Lackey CCG you just download the plugin for magic the gathering...and yes planeswalkers are permanents I think...I know they're considered players in some games...so I guess it depends on the rules you're playing with y'know.

I has a question though...

HOW THE * DO I USE JINXED IDOL?

The official rules state the planeswalkers are permanents, and in no way players. However any damage that a player would deal to their opponent, they can choose to redirect to any planeswalker that opponent controls.

Run a token deck. Alternatively run a deck with self-resurrecting creatures. Try to take out your opponent's creatures as well. On top of that, try to run another card that benefits from the damage output. Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank sound like nice potentials. With both of those out you'll have a really nice loop going as well.

Actually, thanks, I had been looking for a somewhat reliable way to get that loop started. Laughing

Control is given permanently, but that means that you can then sac a creature to return it, or in a multiplayer game you can give it to anybody.

Any effect that does not state when it ends lasts until another effect acts upon it. In this case, you sacing a creature would override the effect that gave it to you and give it back to her and vice versa.

@Anubis
I blew it out of proportion as I usually do...

Anyway, deck building is not my forte and I just play casually against my rooommate (who is way to into it). So I usually get my ass handed to me on a platter.

A good combo I've done in the past is.

Goblin Tunneler + Orge Menial

Use Goblin Tunneler to make Orge Menial unblockable (Power of 2 or less) and declare it as an attacker then boost Orge Menial to XPower (1 Moutain Ability to boost power by 1) and voila in like 2 turns you can poison your opponent to death.

Yeah, I know how that goes. My brother refuses to play me because he "always" loses. There was a guy in the playgroup I was in back in highschool who was completely and utterly obsessed with winning; I swear, the game was not fun for him if he did not win. On the up side, he's the one to blame for why I no longer play to win; I don't want to end up acting a prick like that.

That's a pretty F****** good combo for a pair of commons. You'd make a pretty fine player if you put your mind (and wallet) to it, I think.

That combo was something I did with a red hound (its a 2/1) that does the same thing (1 Mountain = 1 Power gain). But Orge Menial is a 0/4 infect so he can also take a bit more damage if you don't have the tunneler out.

There are a lot of computerized alternatives to the ordinary card game. I use a program called Magic Workstation, but I would advise against it because it has a very complex setup and one should be savvy with both MTG and computers in order to get it running smoothly.

The tabletop TCG is the standard playing form, but that has a tendency to cost decent amounts of cash, especially if you plan on buying singles.

My suggestion would be to get a starter pack (if they still sell those anymore) and/or a preconstructed deck. I would advise against reading the comprehensive rules in their entirety because they are quite long, repetitive, and much more information than a new player requires.

Edit: Not to brag but I was once qualified to be an official judge. I never actually got that far though because I never attended any sanctioned tournaments as a judge. I always got caught up in the competing part. Laughing
The point being, if you need help understanding things, ask me. Razz
