Seems legit but I don't know if it will work on your system.
You could get a XP disc for so cheap like 50 - 100 bucks... Hell I know of a version that you could download that's legit. It's a unattened install enhanced version. Has some stuff you might not need like checksums and also takes out almost everything considered bloatware. Give me a PM if you want it. I'll see what I can do.

that's what i thought
i'm downloading pidgin now... but it's complicated for ME users. I'm following the instructions that the site's help section is giving me. They're lucky i know what the heck they're talking about. seriously

The version I was talking about is unattended meaning there is no input of a serial number. You just put in the disk pick the partition or remake the partition and install. Nothing else no picking date or time or anything like that. No user input at all. Meant for doing lots of machines at as quick as possible without someone having to be there.
I believe nothing really comes with it though. You'd have to dl MSN and all that junk as well as some other windows stuff. Oh and it would overwrite your currently installed windows so you'd want to back up all your data and make sure you know the names of the programs you use as ME and XP are very different and you couldn't just copy over the program files.

I tried doing the weird, long way and it did NOT want to work. It said i didn't have some random program. So i got the program and it said i still didn't have it. after about 5 more installations, i gave up. I tried about 4 other ways and the closest i got was when i just used the run ware they give you for windows ME or lower and then you download Pidgin without gak... at with (they acted the same way). The program would load, but every time i ran it, the program would stop responding right after the icon next to the time showed up.
I think... i'm just gonna give up. My dad said before he left that he's thinking about switching out this computer. But my problem with that would be that the system would go old pretty soon (since my dad will find the cheapest thing he can). And 10 bucks says he'll get a laptop, which is NOT what i need.
