most important thing...
i was just having a conversation with someone, both having a thing in mind about the most important thing in life...
so, i'll be going to ask the same thing to you guys, what do you vallue most in life, what makes you happy or what would you like to have when you grow up?
usually the people will have 2 things in mind:
1) money and materialism
2) love
maybe you have your own idea about something that you would like to accomplish in life...
if you do, i bet we all would love to hear it, and eventually discuss about it 
keep in mind that everyone has their own oppinion, and no arguements are hatred towards others no matter what their points of view are |

For me its family thats all simply because no matter what happens or who you meet family will always be there and I also think if you can't trust family you can't trust anyone.

then i presume you have a very nice family, cause i can't trust my family at all, instead, i have friends who i can build on, family is a given fact, you can't pick em, they're just there, where friends will be the family you got to pick for yourself...

lately ive been rethinking family as a top thing. some people arent meant to be parents and thus, their chilcren may be better off without them. Im not saying im in the situation, but i think some distance between and my family is something i need right now.
so the things that matter to me most are love and success (whatever that means to you)

honestly it is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. and don't get me confused with some religious zealot or anything, i don't practice one religion or the other. i just believe in doing whats right. but i have found that when you do the right things, people treat you much in the same way, i don't know if its respect, karma, or whatever you want to call it but it works. in doing so I've had the opportunity to learn tons of stuff from people that wouldn't otherwise give me a second of their time. take work for example, when i started i didn't know a thing about how Diesel engines worked, the only sales experience i had was from when i was a kid selling Christmas cards and stuff. but now, people come to me when they need stuff because they know I'm not out to make an extra buck at their expense. in turn they show me how things work, what this part does, how to diagnose problems and such. ahh. i'm rambling,...

I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way. When I watch TV and see how parents help their kids through school or are just supportive in general that is totally alien to me. I have always had to do things on my own and help my dad get out of trouble as if he were my kid. I am never totally relaxed because I am unsure when he will drag me down into his world of bs which has happened out of the blue in the past so I am always on guard.

well, i feel like i can trust my mom and stepdad, but deffinatly not my real dad, grandparents, aunts and cousins...
sorry to hear that though, does he still try dragging you down even though you're living on your own now? (at least, i presume you live on your own)
and it's good to see so many replies
as for me, i try to reach happiness, usually in seeing other people happy, helping my friends, beeing polite to anyone...
i don't care much for money, if you need it you can always work for it...
but i'm still searching for a lot of things in life, i gues once i've actually experianced a lot of things i'll be able to judge what it realy is i want to achieve...
i'm still not sure what kind of job i wanna do in the future, i don't know if i'll have kids etc...
i gues finding a partner, or someone to live with will eventually give you a certain idea of what you'd like

For me I would have to say it would be finding a girlfriend and getting married at some point. Getting my own house would be fairly high up in that list as well.
