Yep, I work there with wingzero. Really surprised about the fries, you know? But let me tell you something... If McDonald's knows they stay up so long without even changing, why do they throw away the fries that have been fried 6 minutes ago, if they are not used in those 6 minutes? Find it a bit strange, yes, it can be chemicals, can be anything if you ask me. One of those today's mysteries in the world: What is McDonald's food made of?
I got nothing against those guys. I can eat there once every week, it's fine. But daily, guys, that's just bad for your health. You can eat once in a month, won't kill you. I mean, I'd better eat McDonald's once a week, that in some other fast food restaurant the world has never heard of, or any other fast food restaurant for that matter.

...McDonalds on the other hand makes sure that you don't see them pulling patties out of a warming drawer...that's why you don't need any cooking skills to work at McDonalds... |
Not true. A box of patties "Reg" (Regular) or "Quarter" (Quarter pound) are taken out of the freezer in the back, and placed in another, smaller, freezer beside the grill. Now, you have a drawer at the top that you slide open and reach down to grab a patty out of that box (with Grill Gloves.. They are blue. XD) and you put the patties on the grill, and you close the drawer of that small freezer.. Then you either hit a button or pull it down manually, it'll squish the patty against the grill (As well as what's squishing it is hot) and it pops up in either less than 30 seconds, or less than 2 minutes (Quarter meat takes longer).. There's no "Flipping" of the burgers, but we do have spatula's to take them off the grill, and seasoning to put on them.
Unless you are talking about the patties that are already done, in which case there are suppose to be tongs that the employee's use to take out of that 'warming drawer' and put on the bun.. Or in the very least, use the gloves (White gloves for putting food together).. Never with your bare hands.
But I agree, you need absolutly no cooking skills.. However you do need a very large tolerance for Beeping.. There is a Beep for everything.. For when the grill is almost done with the paties, when the fryers are almost done, when it's half-way done with the fries (suppose to shake them loose from eachother then), and even when the food is going bad in the warming drawer (nobody even starts that timer anyways XD)
ALSO, a note.. Mc D's gloves? You are suppose to put on a pair, make the burger, throw the gloves away, then when you get a new order, get new pair of gloves.. Same goes for making burgers on the grill. Put on gloves, throw down patties, throw away gloves.. then when it's time to make more, put on a new pair. >.>
And now-days they have the back open a little, so you can see them making the burger.. Not all restraunts have that though, but I know the one I worked at did.. =/ Sucked, you couldn't spit into a burger of an angry customer because he or she would be staring at you. >.>

Yep, we got the the same glove system, and an open kitchen where everyone can see what we are doing. Sucks we can't spit into any food, for real. Heh.

Guess 18 years old is the minimum. In Portugal, you can start working from 16 though.

I really like how the discussion is going especially when we can get to know more of McD's modus operandi or 'behind-the-scene story'.
Earlier that day, my friends invited me to a McD lunch special..i declined...told them my reasons...told them what you guys said..they're like "oooh..i guess it's once in a blue moon". hahaha

There was an experiment done a while back that showed that one of the sandwiches contained three times your daily recommendation of salt :/

Well it all depends on what the buyer wants really. I love salty sandwiches, maybe because I like extra salt almost everywhere. But as said, you never know what happens :behind the scenes:

16, I think. That's when I got a job at Burger King. I went on sick leave nearly two years ago and never went back, though.

Lol, yeah, Us Mc D'ers have the "411". =P Though seriously, someone should take a phone, and record like, a manager making some food or preparing it and NOT setting the timer.. That'd be hilarious to see on the news. XD
Also, I love Subway! >.< Though couldn't you just ask for no salt?

Ladies and gents welcome to my disclaimer, yep that’s right my disclaimer. Protect your families, I contain explicit depictions of things which are real these real things are commonly known as life, so if it sounds sarcastic don't take it seriously, if it sounds dangerous don't try it at home or at all and if it offends you, just ignore it.
Thanks Wing! XD <333 |

Very true. I too worked at BK, but at my location wasn't so strict on cleanliness like yours. This was back in 2005-2006 though, so things may have improved.
To answer BlackoutX; they throw the fries away after a few minutes because they begin to cool and greasy food generally isn't successfully reheated.
