That really has no relevance to eating the food...I mean the food isn't broken down by decomposition when eaten its broken down by enzimes in the saliva and the stomach acid. So its not really an acurate experiment.
I second that opinion. The study isn't valid because food doesn't go off in your stomach- it gets digested. Enzymic action is different from normal bacterial action, and there has been no guarantee that the containers were all cleaned out as well as each other.
The variables between the two types isn't as controlled as they should be anyway- there is a time lapse between the placing of each item into the jars, as well as differences in hygiene.
To summarise, since our bodies work in a different way from bacteria and mould, this is simply not a reliable experiment, and can't actually prove anything. Apart from the fact that the person doing this experiment completely misunderstands how digestion works, and how to conduct a proper experiment....

If the smell was leaking out that mean they were not air tight seals and thus outside contamination would have occurred... Maybe the jar of McDonalds Fries was really air tight. And grease factor... if something is saturated in grease it lasts a lot longer (visual wise) than something not soaked in grease.

...I watched this before and it doesn't prove anything...the videomaker could have easily replaced the fries every now and then...it doesn't matter how many preservatives you put in the fries, the temperature and thw moisture inside the jar would have already began supporting decomposers...
...we can only rely on other proven facts bout these fries...
i think the point of the video was to show that, much like an expanded polystyrene foam cup, the fries do not break down on their own, meaning there is something wrong with them as a "food".
sure our acidic stomachs break it down, but we shouldnt be eating foam cups just because.
hm..u guys do have valid points coz since this experiment is not done properly to ensure its authenticity. Who plans to conduct their own? anw, i still will try to kick my McD habit
Well, you could say that, but the point is, there are too many variables which haven't been controlled- hence as an experiment it doens't prove anything.

Everyone knows you shouldn't eat McDonalds fries anyway...they're coated in grease and salt...they sit under a warming light which promotes the growth of bacteria...which is why I've stopped eating out at McDonalds.

McDonald's food contains the same stuff as all other food. It's the serving sizes that makes the difference.
yeah, places like subway are okay... but who knows how long that pre-sliced meat has been out for. i usually get places where i can seem them slice the meat fresh and make the sandwich in front of me.
and wendys. the baconator is soooo yummy i cant help it.
the sandwiches decomp'ed like they were intended to, as all food is to do when left alone.
the fries did nothing, which makes them more like plastic than food.
if mold, and bacertia don't find enough nutrients in something to make a base and expand, what makes you think it is healthy to consume?
