For me, I'd always prefer Materia system. I think its one of the most creative battle system a gaming company ever come up with. Allows players to experiment various combination for further battle enhancements...what else can we say about this great battle system?

On the other hand, I think sphere grid battle system is almost comparible with materia system. Thats another good battle system I've enjoyed too! Very Happy

Materia system is my pick.

i havent properly played with the sphere grid, but i have seen shandy playing with it, seems pretty good, a bit annoying if u miss a sphere or two by accident and u need to go back to get them lol

but i still like the materia more, so its materia for me XD

Sphere grid has its advantages, but materia is the way to go.

Hmmm... Well, considering that I'm currently playing through FFX and that's it was the first system I got to learn... that's the one I like the most.
You know, there's something appealing about being able to learn all characters the same abilities - even if I hate that idea for a Final Fantasy, I still like the theory behind it Razz

The Materia system was great too - enabling all the characters to cast spells, usually allot quicker than the Sphere System, while also unlocking extra abilites. As Leon said, you can almost compare the systems and it's a hard choice. But I still like the Sphere Grid best.

Sphere? Was that FF X? I deliberately forgot so much about that game I can't remember much of it.
If it is FF X then Materia's way better.

I think the sphere grid is overly complicated, I don't want to have to spend half of the time I play a game searching for the abilities. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad... just too BIG for my lazy mind XD

Materia hands down for me woot bounce

Well I'm more comfortable with the sphere grid, but that's probably because FFX was my first FF. But when I watch how the Nubbies struggle with it so and then they play 7 and catch on way faster I would have to say Materia. It's awsome in every way and your maine character can heal it's self and revive ppl when your maine healer is down.
