Okay Vanya the door should open AFTER you have both navi-g pieces,so basically just do the other worlds that ae available to you for now.
Also you should learn scan at level 12 not 11 like i said
And heres what you get for picking your strength at the beginning:
Two extra item slots ... Choose the shield
One extra item slot .... Choose the sword
Two extra MP ........... Choose the rod
[This is at the end of the game when you are at lvl 100]
