And you need to have the different special things (can't remember if it's spheres) from the temples... those gotten by finding a hidden room. I didn't have them when I finally arrived there, so I had to fight Dark Valefor to get the one i missed (was the one from Besaid).

Use first strike, switch to yuna is it isn't her ans summon Yojimbo with an overdrive, pay him an insamly large amount of your gil and  for Zanmato!

Is Zanmato your answer to everything  . It's a pity you need to get into Macalania, but just raise your stats in the monster arena and she goes down easily enough. Her moves do hurt (rank 1, quicker than quick hit), and she sure is cold
