You changed man, you turned your back on us for the last time. Just wait until I tell Master Chief! lol
I don't know if I'll ever get a ps3. Race Pro is about to come out on xbox, and halo wars too so that will keep me busy until Mass Effect 2 comes out.

regardless, id say get some kind of bundle (not sure whats avalible these days) or just the 40gb version as you either wont need a lot of space if its just gaming, or if your going for a media center type of thing, buying a new harddrive is the way to go. it doesnt void any warrenty and the console comes with instructions on how to do it.
um...
one thing to consider... there are a number of games that are offered completely on the psn store. for instance, warhawk, socom, burnout paradise, and gt5 prologe. (ps, burnout paradise is at a ridiculously low price RIGHT now and its completely a must if thats your kind of game) soooo if thats your bag (not buying a disc) then upgrading the hdd is a must.
oh and you have to buy wipeout hd.
so... what kind of games are you planning on picking up **coughkillzone2cough***?

not sure why i'd get oblivion as i have it on the PC and it is far superior on the PC as well.
i think ill get a bunch of earlier games for the system cheap off of craigslist or eBay. I'm DEFINITELY not going to be buying any Multi platform games for the PS3 as I've found from many reviews that multi platform games are better on the 360.. and of course the PC dominates all platforms.
i know im gonna get LBP and Warhawk, i think i might rent Uncharted, Killzone 2 i can wait on as im fairly picky about my FPS's. i MAY get MGS4, but only if i find a good deal. i played resistance 1 and was not impressed in the slightest, i might rent resistance 2 if it is really improved over the first one.
Stappy i haven't changed, i made the promise awhile back that i would buy a PS3 if sony put in a feature that would help humanity. and they did, they put in Folding@home; so i have a promise to fulfill.
ive been fairly critical about the PS3 this entire time, with this my credibility will be much more as i will be an owner.
this also isint too new, i was going to buy one in December but got so pissed off that sony completely removed all traces of Backwards compatability that i just dropped the idea.
i'm not too sure if i'm going to get a PSP or not. i might as Rockband is coming out on it and apparently its the successor to the GREATEST PS2 GAME EVER.. Amplitude.
i'm going to see if i can get a deal, i KNOW i can get 10% off with my brothers Employee discount at target (if i have cash) so that will be nice. but if anyone spies a simply AMAZING deal give me a heads up.

just to save you some time, mgs4 is only good if you are a fan of the serious.
it goes without saying (though im syaing it anyway) that a fan of the series is really in it for the ridiculous story telling, so the final one does indeed wrap every question up. if you are looking to do this, get it. it also has a fair amount of replability, as you can go about prgressing an act in different ways.
on the otherside of the coin, it makes for a great movie. so rent it, have some play it, and you can sit back and watch lol.
on the... edge of the coin... the combat is actually fun this time around and... theres the online which is... interesting but by no means a selling point.
what im trying to say is:
fan -> buy
only played 1-2 out of the series -> rent
HALO ROCKS -> save your money
real edit: you totally reminded me of warhawk. so supposedly this past thursday they update home and added the warhawk game space and now game launching from home. the only way it could possibly make sense as opposed to just loading the game and searching for matches like normal is if it skips all that crap and you just pop into the game. if they could get that going with other games, it would actually give home a purpose.
ill let you know if thats what it does or not.

home sounded like a good idea.
but it really sounds like it is more trouble than it is worth.

its really just a... virtual menu. but of course its only in beta lol.
and yeah, it has to load up the game and go through the intro credits like always and then going into the game. its a waste at this point. good news though, warhawk is still fun lol.

I'm still debating whether I will ever even consider getting a PS3. I was not impressed with many of the originals of some big sequels coming out on the PS3 *coughkillzone2cough*.
And if you are looking for a good deal, look for a nearby Circuit City. If it is still in business, go there. You should be able to find stuff like that for dirt cheap if they still have it in stock.

i believe most circuit cities no longer have any consoles as they flew out the door at the first markdown of 10%

from what i played of the single player demo of killzone2 and the multiplayer beta, the game is really polished and solid. i have to crank up the sensitivity for aiming because im used to socom and the such but... meh. overall, i think it'll be a good game. i havent picked it up yet as i want to beat the original first though.
but yest, check a circuit city first.
a quick search lead me to this:
http://cherows.com/product57.html?osCsid=98ddf7eff6b08a5100f1608d80e97261
i dont know how they got it to that price but id do a little research on the site before placing any orders. also, you should invest in a duelshock 3 controller and a headset if you are seriously about any online gaming.
as for a headset, i have used this and its worked great and its not super expensive at all. great battery life as well and comfortable on the ear.

i used to have one of those headsets on my phone and was disappointed in all the static.
wow, forgot the PS3 requires a Blue-tooth headset to do voice. i may end up spending more money than i first thought on this.
i will be trying to get a brand new one, as i know they have the more efficient chipsets on a smaller die which means less chance of failure, lower heat, and less power consumption. but newer ones do also come with a Dual-shock 3 by default i believe.
so it looks like in addition to the PS3 i will be getting:
PS3: $400
PSP: :$200
HDMI: (already own)
Component cable: $20
Blue-Tooth Headset: $22 (found an OEM on newegg!)
4gb memory card for PSP: $18 (newegg)
Extra Controller: $55
OK, i think when i do it, im gonna use my bro's 10% off at target, then im gonna try to get their utterly retarted credit card and save 10% off of that (19% off total) adding together its (without discount)
Store: $675
Newegg: $40
$675 * .81 = $546.75
$546 + $40 = $586
$1173 - $586 = $587
HOLY CRAP IT IS EXACTLY HALF
its like destiny said "buy a PS3 with half of your rebate"
i could shave off a few bucks by:
not buying the component cable and just using the HDMI on my OTHER tv... the reason i need both HDMI and component is that our larger TV doesnt have HDMI and is 1080i, but our other smaller TV does have HDMI but not really fit for movies.
i could shave off a few more bucks by not buying a second controller. or simply buying the Sixaxis for a second controller, or buying a used controller rather than a new one for my second one.
i could save even more by not getting the Blue-tooth headset as its not really necessary at all.

Thor, take this from someone who has played the PSP quite a bit. They are a waste of money, don't bother with it. There are very few good games, and the tiny amount of extras that come with it are absolutely pointless.
If you plan on modding the crap out of it, then I suppose there are worse things to buy out there, but for the most part, PSP is just no good.
