Is it any good
I have been wondering if the xbox is genuinely good or bad because all of the people i have met seem to be in one of two categories 1: Those who own an xbox and love it like their own child 2: Those who do not own an xbox and condemn it as microsoft trash

I'd agree with those 2 categories. I bought one last week because it is the cheapest console by a mile and it has the most and best games. Anyone who doesn't own an xbox does seem to condemn microsoft. I still don't like MS that much since having to pay for online play is a joke.
I wanted a ps3 but it doesn't offer any good exclusive games. Xbox has seemingly all the RPG's and upcoming games I'm looking forward too like Halo Wars rts and Race Pro (a racing sim made by simbin)
I'd put myself in a 3rd category though, someone who plays console games casually and doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars extra lol

id put myself in the 4th category, where i do not own a 360 but can easily see its good qualities, i just dont want to pay for online play right now. otherwise, its got tons a great features. the new addition with netflix alone is awesome.

supposedly sometime this spring there going to expand on the xbl experience by letting you share movies you watch on netflix with friends.. just think of how awesome that would be.. especially for someone in a long distance relationship. anyway... I don't mind paying 50 bucks a year, Ive logged enough time on halo3's online play to more than justify it. and your right, the rpg's that i have played have been outstanding. especially lost odyssey..

i'd recommend the 360, ive enjoyed mine.
ive only regretted getting it once.
that was the day i found out that i could have sold my Launch day 360 on ebay for $5,000
i regretted it a little then.

let me tell you how i got my own xbox360 lol
this guy i know, he's kinda on the shady side. but anyways...
he was telling me his xbox was broke, so being the curious guy that i am, i wanted to know what was wrong with it. well , he goes and tells me that it just wouldn't play. said there was a "red ring" were it used to be green.
so.. i was like. how much would ya want for it. being that its broke? he doesn't know, so i offer him 75, instantly he says sure! i felt bad, so i told him i'd give him a hundred for the console and the extra controller, chatpad, and mike.
long story short, 9 days later xbox sent me a brand new one, with a new 3 year warranty 
what was funny was the guy tells me after i paid him that i should send it in to xbox and see if the warranty would cover teh failure, lol. i was like sure! i'll try!

lol, good for you, kinda * for him.
i was gonna think that what you did was wrong.
but the guy already knew about warranties and calling Microsoft.
essentially he lost the money because he was lazy.

yeah, either that, or it wasn't his to begin with. that was what bothered me the most. i was scarred that it would have been reported stolen.. but apparently the guy was like you said, freakin lazy..
