I used to dream about a pure Blitzball inspired game with much better gameplay than in Final Fantasy X... but that was mainly because I suck at winning matches in Final Fantasy X.

Tidus and Jecht shot pretty much unstoppable. Also sphere shot was good on Tidus and Wither Tackle.
I'd just have Tidus as left winger and swim up the side until I got close to the net and do Jecht shot. Unless the keeper had high catch, no way their stopping him..
Also Wither tackle could sometimes break through...

Yes, that is good and all, but I mean, if you have to rely on a couple of abilities to win each battle, then I don't see much enjoyment in playing it. Football games also have different stats and sometimes abilities for each player, but you don't have to rely on a couple of "moves" to be able to score at all. I hope you understand what I mean.
