I'm not hoping for anything, $60 is the price, check all of the gaming stores' sites (EB Games for example).
Why the heck would Sony do that? Is that even possible? That just doesn't make sense. You can't rent a friggin' game for however many dozens of dollars and expect to have to keep it forever, that is called buying the game.

EB games are going off the estimation that the price will be the same as the 360 games, but the increased cost of making BD discs, means that if Sony were to sell the games at $60 they would be losing more than ALL of the money they make on royalties.
IF they sell games at $70, they are still making SOME money from royalties, but are footing the cost of the disc, and THEN when the price of the disc goes down to make, sony can start making some cash to get out of the massive debt the PS3 is getting them into (they lose money on every PS3 sold)
it doesnt make sense for sony to make the games $60 where they lose money on not only every console sold, but every game sold as well, they make most of their money on game sales. why would you destroy your only means of getting out of debt.
that would be like taking out a loan from the bank, and then quitting your job. your in debt now, and you have to get a job later on to make up for all the money you spend while you DONT have a job.

er, no more of publicly BOUGHT used games.
hopefully the hardware wont do a burning and make each copy of the game work only on your console.
so it would still be possible to sell a used game, you just cant do it anywhere publicly (maybe start a game-trading club at school, that should stay under sony's radar and you could still trade games, probably get more value from that than from EB or Gamestop.)
either way, expect it to be much harder to get a used copy of a game. |
well said(nice idea)

whatever i said in this thread i was incorrect, its past the point of revielment for them to start to push this.
you will beable to use rented game on your PS3 without any kind of locking disc thingie.
i will admit when im wrong. and i was wrong this time.
