Independance!
Mostly for people of the United Kindom and specifically Scotland! But i wouldlike everyones take on the matter!
As you know, Alex Salmond is the new First Minister of Scotland!
but... whats your views on his want for scotlands independance?
i think we should stick as a nation! the United Kingdom!

Well you gotta think of the fact that Scotland was its own country until Britain took over and they've always kind of resented it so maybe Independance wouldn't be such a bad idea because look at (until the 50s) America it did great from years 1949 and above.

i think you should stay as one
the british pound is a strong currency, and i can't realy say if schotland will have what it takes to be financially stable enough to keep on going without the rest of the UK
and there are loads of other countries in europe that want their own state, but for what?
what good does it bring any of the people that live in a state that's seperated from the rest?
besides, europe is doing their best to create a unity, where every country will be set by the same laws, and then there's schotland trying to get out of it, if 1 country can't stick together, how will the rest of europe stick together?
if the uk wants to set a role model to the world, and especialy europe, they should stick together, as a token that people can live together without any problems...
then there's ireland, but they're just stupid for fighting about catholics or protestants...
besides, i bet a lot of the people living there don't even know what they're fighting for anymore, and keep on going because they were tought to do so...

Scotlands Oil and Gas in the north sea funds the majority of britain! 2% of our natural resourses come from foreign trade, 3% from UK and 90-95% comes from scotland, Oil, Gas, Clean Water, so im pretty sure we could fund ourelves without england to Take all our resourses!

scotland will still be part of europe, im sure NI is in teh EU (i think, not sure) so there would still be europe!

although i dont think englands government will sign over independance and i think there would be a lot of trouble if he did!

my point there was the fact that we try to be united as one, but with every country by now that has a province or state trying to reach independance, how will we ever reach a unified europe?

Yeah, i say we stick together, because what does independence get Scotland anyway? Wouldn't it be weaker on it's own? There's nothing wrong with being joined nation.. at least I can't see one

Well, it will probably survive....
Wingzero, there are loads of gas fields in the North sea.... All within Scottish waters. Plus tourism.
Personally, I would prefer status quo I think.... But maybe give the Scottish Government more control over its own armed forces etc.....
And Gary, you are probably aware of the fact that the current British PM is Scottish?
