Idea
Ok... I had an idea... sadly my last idea was killed by people not posting  so I would like some * on this idea and see if anyone thinks they can mildly commit to this as an RP 
Ok, here's the idea ^_^
["There is a race called the "Fae" which are a race of humans with different powers, abilities and weaknesses. They have been in legends and stories since the beginning of human history but have remained quietly in the background for many reasons. Some believe that the Fae shouldnt interfere with humans, Some believe that the Fae should rule the humans, then there is the group that works with humans in an effort to maintain peace. Today, this group works with the UN to investigate the strangest and most dangerous paranormal cases around the world."]
I want to make a specific list of "Fae" creatures available for play and allow no characters outside that list. I want to avoid "made up" creatures and unconventional/obscure creatures. So I would like to take suggestions for creatures, as well as suggested powers and limitations.

I think this is a brilliant idea! 
I am definitely going to enjoy this if we get it moving.
I am going to look up some myths and legends before I start just spouting off stuff that I /want/ in there, and I will even include what legendary creature each Fae creature is based off of when I post it.
Now first that crosses my mind is Blood Fae.
Based upon vampires.
Have the ability to transform into a wolf, a bat, or a humanoid form during the night. Limited to a few times when there is no full moon showing, unlimited when at full moon. Can heal very quickly and survive normally fatal wounds if they aren't completely destroyed, or wounded such while bound in silver. When wounded in a way that would normally be fatal to a human, they instinctively fall into a psuedo-death until they recover. Usually this is used to their advantage to avoid a real death. Greater than human lifespan. Builds muscle slightly easier than humans, but has muscles that are micro-condensed, so while they may appear thin and scrawny, as is the usual, they could actually be very strong. Has a weakness to silver, it burns them and weighs them down. An area of their frontal lobe is enlarged, and it is theorized that this is why they typically have a strong respect for privacy, and a tendency towards secrecy and stealth themselves this is true to the point of them getting headaches and beginning to feel sick if they breach privacy such as entering a house without permission. Most shy away from that, but it is not an absolute rule. Fire stunts their natural regeneration process for some reason. Research on this pending.

no no no see... thats exactly what I was talking about... thats made up... I don't want made up things... so... vampire would be a good one succubus would be a good one werewolf, Driad, Kitsune, Angel, Demon, Elf, Troll, Ghost... these are all examples of good ideas... I dont want anything obscure, made up or unknown...

Well...
Let me try this again.
How about...
With the vampires, you don't make them catch on fire and burn to death in the sun? It'd be hard for a vampire to RP in the daylight otherwise. We can make them weakened in sunlight, but not catching fire and dying.
But I should probably list one and think of one that I actually want to play instead of saying whatever comes to mind, huh?
And that would probably be Shadow People. Since we are dealing with Fae, I am thinking of having them mostly being human form. And in their human forms, they don't have powers unless they are in the shadows. But in the shadows they become mostly intangible, and have limited teleportation within touching shadows. Like 5 feet per jump. As supported by their odd movement patterns. Shining a light on them makes them vulnerable again. This makes them especially weak to fire attacks which is both a light source and a source of damage.
So what do you think? Too changed from the original or too overpowered?

Personally, I wish to see a Basilisk (Not as a playable race, that's too powerful)
Mostly because, it's a lizard that will turn people to stone, and is weak to Weasels. Basilisks live in burrow type areas, if I remember correctly...

Could there be a limitation on the basilisk such that instead of permanently turning you to stone with it's gaze, it turned you to stone temporarily, for only as long as you were looking into it's eyes and it was looking into yours without it blinking?

Psh, its an NPC paranormal event, it could be anything I want it to be.
In this case I would probably make it a giant snake or lizard or something that lived in an abandoned mine or stone quarry and was terrorizing a local town/city/indigenous people or something like that...

I've got it.
I would definitely like to see Spriggans as playable characters.
Not to be confused with Elder Scrolls creatures of the same name, Spriggans are actually more akin to golems, as they are made of stone. They can also shrink to be very small, and grow to be reasonably taller than humans. They are weak against someone turning their clothes inside out, as many Celtic spirits are. It is like holy water is to some other beings to them.
And this is the first one that I actually got right. XD

hmm that could be interesting, I had to read up on them. I never knew there was an actual race of fae blamed for changelings. I had only ever heard them explained as "fairy folk" who kidnap children. Some very interesting stuff behind them ^_^ would be a cool character

Can we have Cernunnos be the gatekeeper to the Fae world?
He is a deer-headed humanoid god who is the Lord of Animals in Celtic mythology. One image of him found in Denmark depicted the god as wearing a tunic and holding a snake in one hand and a royal torc indicating that he combines the nature of animals with the culture of man. He is the doorkeeper to the other world and those that wish to enter must first answer his questions, in Celtic mythology.

I like the idea of their being a "doorway" into the fae world so maybe he could be A gatekeeper to A gateway  it would be cool to have to contend with such guardians at different points ^_^

lizardman, tengu, incubus, Ogre, Goblin, Ork, Giant, Hobbit, Ghoul, Yeti, Kobold, Merfolk, pixie, golem, Naga, centaur.
the list could go on forever and not to be a killjoy but i would want to move away from werewolves/vampires and angels/demons, they've been done to death recently and I'm starting to get sick of the sight of both of them
