I.A.P.I. (from "Idea")

There is a race called the "Fae" which are a race of humans with different powers, abilities and weaknesses. They have been in legends and stories since the beginning of human history but for the most part, have remained quietly in the background for many reasons. Some believe that the Fae shouldnt interfere with humans, Some believe that the Fae should rule the humans, then there is the group that works with humans in an effort to maintain peace. Humans have worked with Fae over the years for many reasons, but this organization has been around ever since the war began. Today, this group works with the UN under the the name "International Association of Paranormal Investigation". Their main mission is to investigate the strangest and most dangerous paranormal cases around the world, in an attempt to keep the peace.

However, they have a second objective. Study and preservation. This puts them on both sides of the fight, as the "Order" (as the are affectionately known) tries to destroy and/or remove all evidence of the Fae from the human's world and as "Chaos" agents try to destroy and/or remove all humans from the world.

vampire, werewolf, Driad, Naiad, Kitsune, Angel, Demon, Elf, Ghost, tengu, incubus, Goblin, Ork, Giant, Ghoul, Fairy, golem, gargoyle, centaur, spriggan.

Race Descriptions:

Vampire:
Hidden: 
A preternatural being, commonly believed to be a reanimated corpse, that is said to suck the blood of sleeping persons at night.
Advantages:
Supernatural speed and strength
Night vision
Can become a shadow
Levitation
Immortality
Disadvantages:
Destroyed by fire
Will catch fire in the sun
an all consuming thirst for blood
True Holy ground will destroy them
Can not enter a home without invitation


Werewolf:
Hidden: 
a human being who has changed into a wolf, or is capable of assuming the form of a wolf, while retaining human intelligence.
Advantages:
Sharpened senses in human form
Can become a wolf at will
Night vision
Prolonged life
The Wolf is larger than natural wolves, usually about the size of a human
Disadvantages:
During the full moon, the werewolf loses all control of their human side as well as enrages the wolf within until the full moon passes.
The transition between wolf and man must be mastered to avoid the incredible pain and bodily stress.
The psychology of the wolf is different than a man's and while they keep their human thoughts, it is seen differently through the eyes of a wolf.


Driad/Naiad:
Hidden: 
a deity or nymph of the woods. / any of a class of nymphs presiding over rivers and springs.
Advantages:
Affinity for trees or water
can not be killed unless outside their element.
Disadvantages:
They are tied Directly to a certain tree/forest River/Stream and their life and power are tied directly to it.
They can only travel so far from what they are tied to.


Kitsune:
Hidden: 
The spirit of a fox-demon. May be an incarnation or on it's own, and has supernatural power.
Advantages:
Can create a Den outside of the physical realm that it can use as a safe-house
Can use mild magic and shape-shifting powers to disguise itself.
Has extremely heightened senses in human form, most exclusively those sense that bring pleasure.
Disadvantages:
They must incarnate at a still-born birth, and are tied to that human body. If the human body dies they may wait several human lifetimes before they are able to even set foot on earth again.
When the posses a human they are vastly limited in their original power and have an object (like a small round stone, usually white in color) which their spirit is tied too.


Angel:
Hidden: 
one of a class of spiritual beings; a celestial attendant of God (King of the Fae).
Advantages:
Super human strength.
Immortal
Winged
Can use powerful magic that often involved lightning and fire.
Immune to physical attacks.
Disadvantages:
They can take no action that is not 110% Holy (the will of the King of the Fae).


Fallen Angel:
Hidden: 
Fallen angels are those angels who have strayed from being holy and have thus become "darker".When an Angel "falls" it loses it's immortality and it's invincible characteristics. At this point it can chose either to give in to darkness or to try and regain favor with the Celestial realm.

Advantages:
Super Human strength
Can sense, see, and interact with the spirit realm.

Disadvantages:
Mortality
Constantly tempted to give into darkness and become demons and tend to be "haunted" and followed by gruesome tragedy, horror, and misfortune.


Demon:
Hidden: 
A Supremely evil being.

Advantages:
Can possess a human body
Immortal
Winged
Super human strength
Can use extremely powerful dark magic feeding off fear and darkness.
Not bound by the laws of anyone but self-indulgence.
Can be summoned and betray humans.
Disadvantages:
A true human priest can directly channel power from the King of the Fae to contend with them
It is impossible for them to step into the King's lands without being summoned.
Can be summoned and controlled by humans.


Elves:
Hidden: 
The Fair Folk are portrayed as ambivalent towards humans. They generally keep to themselves and have disdain for the foolish and awkward "mortals".
Advantages:
Extremely adept in the magical arts.
Able to learn magical skills in a very flexible way in line with whatever course of training that they follow.
Extended lifetime or Immortal, pending on what magical path they choose to follow.
Disadvantages:
No real natural or innate abilities other than the ability to start learning magic with more ease than humans.


Ghost:
Hidden: 
the soul of a dead person, a disembodied spirit imagined, usually as a vague, shadowy or evanescent form.
Advantages:
Can not be seen by the normal eye
can use some powerful psychic magic
becomes more powerful by human emotion
disadvantage:
Power is derived solely from absorbing energy.
can be corrupted by the energy they absorb.
can fade away from neglect.

Tengu:
Hidden: 
An Oriental spirit that takes the form of a human with avian characteristics. It makes a sound like thunder and seems to bring war wherever it goes.

advantages:
Winged
Can see and interact with the Spirit world
disadvantages:
Subject to clan law
Power is based off their training.


Incubus/Succubus:
Hidden: 
A male or female demon, respectably, that steals energy from a person through pleasure.
Advantages:
Immortal
Doesn't have to possess a human body to manifest physically
Gains strength and youth from their victims.
Disadvantages:
Extremely weak to holy symbols, holy water, and holy words.
Can be rebuked directly by believers.
Must seek out victims constantly.


Goblin
Hidden: 
Nasty, hideous cousins of gnomes, goblins have grey beards and hair and are about to a human's knee in height.
Advantages
Super human strength
Sharp, pointy claws.
Night vision
Disadvantages
If flax seeds are spread across a floor, they will have to try to collect them, one by one.
Nocturnal, so they only come out at night.
Not good in light and wide open spaces.


Orc:
Hidden: 
A green humanoid with huge muscles and large teeth or tusks coming up from their mouths' massive underbite.
Advantages:
Extremely physically strong
Disadvantages:
No real magical powers and even less capable of magic than humans.


Giant
Hidden: 
A being that looks akin to a human, but is much, much larger.
Advantages:
Extremely strong and large
Disadvantages:
No innate magical abilities. Just humans, but larger and stronger.


Ghoul
Hidden: 
Ugly undead humanoid beings with shaggy hair that are irresistibly attracted to humans, either as food, or romantically, but mostly as food.
Advantages:
Can use magic to appear more pleasant, to deceive enemies.
Difficult to kill because of they are undead.
Disadvantages:
They are extremely ugly.
Must consume human flesh.
Sunlight and other light forms make them vulnerable.
Extremely weak against fire.


Fairy
Hidden: 
A tiny humanoid with bug-like wings that glows with magical energy.
Advantages:
Extremely adept in magic, more so than many other races.
Winged
Disadvantages:
Tiny, and frail, easy to be killed by even a small amount of physical damage.


Golem
Hidden: 
A creature created by magic and any non-living material. Usually created by sorcerers to be used as an assistant.
Advantages:
Physical damage does not effect them as they feel no pain, and as long as the seal is not destroyed, the entire creature can be regenerated from the smallest piece.
Their size and make up can determine their strength and usefulness.
Disadvantages:
Whether stone or wood, the seal is the key to their existence, if it is removed or the magic is drained from it, they will die.
Most have a hard time understanding emotions, many, if abandoned or their owner dies, simply stand in one place, waiting on their next orders until the decompose.


Gargoyle:
Hidden: 
A race of reptilian humanoids, usually winged with demonic features such as a pointed tail horns, and sharp, cruel teeth. Said to protect churches from evil spirits.
Advantages:
Extremely strong scales that deflect blows well.
Winged (sometimes)
Sharp teeth and claws
Disadvantages:
Turn into stone during the day time.


Centaur
Hidden: 
A race of beings that have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse.
Advantages:
Excellent at archery
Extremely fast runners
Adept warriors
Strong Astrologists
Disadvantages:
Do not blend in well in society
Extremely proud and this is made even more apparent when they drink.


Spriggan
Hidden: 
A stone humanoid that guards old ruins and burrows. They are also known for being thieves and gathering and hoarding massive amounts of treasure in the mounds they protect. They are usually very grotesque, and sometimes replace a human's child with a changeling.
Advantages:
Stone skin
Can shrink or grow
Disadvantages:
Cannot harm someone who turns their clothes inside out. If they touch someone like that, they will burn even through their stone skin, the same can be said for if they cast holy water on them, or if they touch them with iron.

Strategically placed rocket engines. (behind the elbows, behind her heels, in her back.

Brief History: Cottia was originally created in TechArt Inc Labs to be the first AI that was indistinguishable from humans. She first awoke in the Lab while she was still only half way finished. She caught a glimpse of her creator. He was a blond haired man who had a kind face. The bright florescent light reflected off his glasses to give him a strange ethereal look. He greeted her, smiled, and then deactivated her.

While she was asleep, she couldnt have known that the project to put her together and to find a suitable power source for her, was hemorrhaging TechArt's money, she couldnt have known that they fired her kind creator and sold out to a military company. There was no way for her to know how her kind creator went crazy when his wife left him and took the kids and the house. She didnt know how he hid in the basement of MilTech and poured all his rage into her heart, changing her body, placing killing machines and complicated joint configurations in her design.

She was activated again, there was a red light surrounding her. She sat up and found herself in the middle of a Pentagram drawn with what appeared to be the blood of several victims. Nearby she could see her creator. She crawled over to him and lifted his head. She could see the wound under his lab coat, he had been shot. He looked into her eyes... he looked ragged. He gurgled out his last words "Cottia... Avenge me..." then he died.

She learned about her new body by killing every last person in the building, from the beginning of her life, she was covered in blood.

Brief History: Unlike other fairies who learned all sorts of kinds of magic growing up, Mebdahnah did not. She specialized in one specific branch of magic. Magic shielding. It all started when she was just a young fae living in her community in a large garden owned by a rich human family that never spent the time to look at their own beautiful garden, but maintained it as a position of status. One day, she woke up to a horrible calamity. Fairies were screaming and the whole community was in flames. She and a few others managed to escape, and moved to another community within the Fae world because the others blamed the humans on the destruction of their community. She, on the other hand blamed herself. She was too young to know that all this shouldn't be her fault. So she dedicated herself to being able to protect others. Still, as she grew older, she realized there were other ways to protect people; by taking care of those that would hurt people. But she was long committed to magic shielding at this point, so instead of learning new magic, she learned to use her old magic new ways...

Brief History: Alexander was born during the Mid Early Renaissance era. He learnt of the Fae through his parents, who had hunted those that hunted humanity. For the first many years of his life he endured rigorous training and study yo prepare himself for when he too would have to hunt the Fae. At the age of 28 he was turned into a vampire. From this point on he searched for his sire, what he would do when he found them he did not know.

Also, keep in mind, you aren't going to know what everyone is just by looking at them, especially a very special golem like Cottia. you may be able to identify by her behaviors that she is a golem, but just based on looks, she could be a vast number of things. It is always good to try and keep OOC and IC knowledge separate as possible. For instance, in character, my fairy probably won't know that you aren't human except that you don't talk like a human. XD

Effectively, saying that Alexander had never seen a Golem before would not be from his point of view and can be considered narrating in OOC. Whereas, if I stated that Alexander said something acknowledging the Golem, despite him having never seen a Golem, this would indicate a use of Meta-Gaming, which is stupid. Razz
