i7 *******
So the new cores from intel pretty much blow everything else in the market out of the water. They went the way of AMD and took out the Front side bus and integrated it into the core it's. They also have a different architechture. The crappy thing is, is that there is a new socket and from what I've seen not too many options for motherboards. (I think it's socket 1366) or somtehting like that. I'm planning on getting the lower end model and overclocking it to about 3.0GHz or if anything I'm getting the Core 2 Duo E8600 (Which outperforms all the quad-core Phenoms because quad cores are too well supported!)

i have a good mobo, ram, and CPU to upgrade now. ill wait a year for the price and size of the die to decrease.
yah, by putting the memory controller on the CPU itself requires new communcation channels from the CPU to ram, thus the old socket wouldnt work as it filtered the CPU through the northbridge.
unfortunately if ive learned anything from AMD's approach. if you want to upgrade from DDR2 to DDR3 ram you will need a new motherboard and CPU.
so if you upgrade to the i7, might as well get DDR3

Yeah what's with this 3 sticks of Ram thing... Like the new mobo's have it where instead of a pair of ram you have 3 chips.... why not just make it so all the ram is pair with each other?
Oh have you read up upon Quantum comptuers?
Edit: Wow so I got modded hard I gues someone doesn't want "the word that describes a female dog " used in a topic header... a little over the top seeing as you can say that word on T.V. (American TV no less)

its DDR3 ram.
its like RAID 0 but for Ram.
i laugh at anyone who has 1 stick of DDR3 ram. it is not nearly as fast as if you had 3. (or 6 which is two sets of 3)
also: more companies will be selling ram as a 3 packs because of this.
