i may have been wrong

keeping in my promise that if i am proven wrong in my assumption, i will freely admit that i am wrong. this is part of that admission.

currently it is projected that pre-orders for PS3 games are $60 in japan.

this isn't a definite price yet, i could still be right we wont really know until launch if its going to be the same price everywhere or if it wont go up. or if it just japan exclusive (like the reasonable $450 launch price for the premium console in japan)

either way, i want to keep my respect, and if my predictions prove wrong, i will admit i was incorrect in my guesses.

(on a side note on the 360 side, any idiot who pays $70 for the Collectors version of 'lost planet' is forgetting why we have a $60 price tag... dear god thats just exploitation of the consumer. its supposto be $50 for regular, and $60 for premium. the only game i think that is getting worse is the GTHD which can get up to $1000 if you buy all the cars and tracks, and i know people will buy all the tracks, but probably not all the cars, so its going to be closer to $200 for a complete game.)

yah the 'empty' game will be like $30. and comes with no cars, tracks, etc etc.

another verison will be released at the same time for $70 that will contain a few tracks, cars, etc etc.

and there will be up to $1000 in tracks/cars combined in download ables you can buy. (guarantees that you will have a rare car.... kinda.)

man im trying to find the link.. how did you not know this?
[edit]
half-linkies:
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/734/734938p1.html

OK so the premium game actually might ship for $60... why?
it only comes with 30 cars and 2 tracks.

the line i want to point out:
Quote:
Downloads will be included in both the premium and classic modes of play. The premium mode, as we mentioned in an earlier article, will include 30 cars and two courses from the start. Yamauchi also revealed that premium-grade cars and courses will continue to be added in the future for download. For classic mode, the number of potential downloads is staggering. Users will be able to nab 770 cars, 51 courses and 4,500 items. These numbers are end targets though. At the start of service, only 51 "items" will be available. Yamauchi did not give specifics on how this number breaks down.

mind you they wont be free. each one will cost money.
im trying to locate the article that said the prices. i thought it was $1.50 per car, $2 per track. which is truely micro.. but they add up fast.

so i will take back that $200 statement,
it will be about $100 for a game with enough content to keep the average gamer satisfied. (seriously... 2 tracks... WTF!)

no no, not wtf, DTF!

and seriously, starting with 30 cars and 2 tracks and 50 some odd "items" when released... they are going backwards. i am muchos dissapointed.

edit: i get it. they want more money lol. not even in conventianl means with the dl's. they are testing the online waters while supporting hd technology. where as gt 5 will be online and a combination of tourist trophy (Polyphony Digital's motorcycle racing game) and gt4. also they are finally gonna have Ferrari's. that makes me smile.

my vote, everyone ignore gthd and wait for 5, which will be the real deal (as in same content as gt4 and tt) and added downloadable content.

all this = semi-yays

VERIFIED:
I was incorrect.
the MSRP of 1st party games on the PS3 will in fact be $60.

third party games though are still up in the air, they could be $70 to $80... most likely $70.

unfortunately as we see in horrible, horrible trends on XBL (see: Lumnies) you may end up buying a $100 game and just pay for the rest in XBL/PS3online content micro transactions.

a reason to why i may have been wrong:
-Game developers can use Single Layered BD discs.. which are cheaper to manufacture (less than half the cost of a dual layered disc) and in my predictions i was assuming all games would be on the 50gb discs.

in using 25gb discs, they can effectively reduce the cost of a game to nearly the cost of a dvd9 (still quite a bit more, but the MSRP of the discs are nearly the same)
