i love my DS

but would it be as popular if it didnt have nintendo's name on it? im not saying its no good, but nintendo fans seem to be like an overpowering horde of zombies on the whole.
the company just bases consoles around what seem to be gimmicks..the psp is far superior, yet as its not a nintendo console, wont do as well.

You may be right that it wouldnt be as popular if it didnt have Nintendos name on. My own opinion is the Gamecube was bad and all Nintendo fans brought a DS giving it the same fanbase as the Gamecube. Its so much cheaper to make games on DS so from that fanbase it was given some great games. The great games are really showing now which is why its really popular particuarly amongst more casual people. Oh and the dual screen with touch may have something to do with it.

im not talking about hardware.. im talking about GAMES. and what makes the hardware popular are good games. the fact that this handheld has so many of them compared to the so few good games on the PSP, is why the DS is held in such high regard.
no, i did not buy it because it had nintendo's name on it, i bought it because at the time i saw 6 games i wanted to own.. which is quite a bit and usually takes me awhile to beat 6 games and by the time i was done there would be another 2 games that i wanted.
then i got the mod and i can play all the games i wanted. and ive found that there are ALOT of games that i had never knew about for this handheld that are amazingly high quality.
why do you say that the PSP is superior?
because it has a better hardware?
if thats so then you also openly admit that the xbox1 is superior and better than the Playstation 2, which not many agreed too.
is it the bigger screen?
this would be a valid point, but only if you could back it up with evidence that it being bigger has led to better games.. which leads to oppinion.
as it stands the ONLY thing that defines a console wheather it is good or not is the quality of the games.. and the quality of DS games far surpasses that of PSP games.
But i can watch movies on my PSP!
with my mod i can watch movies, listen to music, read text documents, watch a slideshow, browse the web, and in an upcoming patch i MIGHT beable to have my DS pull a Zune with any other similary modded DS's and transfer songs/pictures/movies wirelessly.

you are right. though id rather play games such as loco roco and gta vice city stories over ds games on handheld; but thats merely a matter of opinion. i just think its a pity that the ds is ruling over the psp when it feels that more thought and effort went into the psp (technically) and they have done a good job bringing some solid games out on it. guess its the majority of handheld fans that decides at the end of the day though, and the majority certainly seem to prefer what the ds offers. oh well..

As for Loco Roco, the entire idea seems so stupid. Is there even a storyline to it? It looks like you just roll a stupid looking yellow blob around the screen.

i only played the demo...and it was the most entertaining gaming experience for a long long time. not sure about any story, but when the gameplay is so good it doesnt matter..because thats what classic quality games were about...brilliant game play based on an simple yet fun concept.

not really, the PSP is essentially a PS2 underclocked, very little went into the design of the PSP.
the DS through uses a similar, but much more advanced chipset compared to the n64, not to mention manages to make a touch screen work with very little resources (quite a good feat) all the while powering two screens and getting 6 hours of battery life. a new chipset requires lots of work, along with trying to get a touchscreen to work properly and be accurate without charging more to make it work.
and while the PSP does have more horsepower, it was much easier to design, it was much easier for developers to make games for it because it used the same code as the PS2. thus game designers already knew how to get the most out of the PSP.
where the DS as i said above, uses a similar, but vastly improved chipset which means that there are many more ways for designers to optimize the DS to their whim.

ive seen rocoloco and it looks interesting.
mind you i said that there are more good DS games, there are still good PSP games, just not nearly as many.
i would LOVE to see somone make a list of the best PSP games.

Lumines: This game is absolutely brilliant. Its the new Tetris. The game is so simple but so challenging. Heres a trailer:

Both these games have been so popular there have been many variations already on other consoles.

There is also GTA Liberty City Stories, Vice city Stories, Monster Hunter 1 and 2 to come (ive heard underated but brilliant games), Wipeout pure, Every Body's golf (I liked it) and Breath of fire 3.
Theres also FF:Tactics being released and the PS1 emulator.
I think theres some great games the only trouble is alot of them can be done on PS2. The only real ones suited to handheld are loco Roco, Lumines, Mercury and maybe Tactics. I think thats where the PSP's trouble is, its a great handheld but it just needs a few quick pick up and play games and they should have used cartridges to make it easier to carry the damm things around.
Theres my view and out of those games I own GTA:Vice City Stories, Everybody's Golf, Lumines, Mercury and Wipeout. Ive also played Breath of Fire 3 and plenty of Loco Roco through free demo downloads.

if sony wanted to look innovative, they would have put Motion sensitive sensors in the PSP, THEN i might buy one!
Loco roco looks like it was MADE for motion sensitive gameplay.

I agree Loco roco looks made for motion sensitive gameplay. They should release it as a free download on the PS3 using the motion sensitive controls.

Why are you guys on about Sony and PSP on the Nintendo sub-forum? Shouldn't this be in the Sony sub-forum?

but there are some things going on in the sony forum that belong in the 360 forum anyway...so it al balances out in the end.
NINTENGIRLS....will it be released over here in britain though..the country is full of &*^%'s that oppose evrything in games so will try and ban it.
this will be the greatest game ever made haha..definitely worth buying a ds for.
